The Beginning! ... The Early Years

While growing up, my parents loved to go camping. We would camp all summer long. My Mom, my Dad, my Brother and me. Dad had to work during the day, so he came up afterward. Fishing with my Dad, learning to waterski, or just swimming, any way you look at it we were having fun. That was what it was like. Dad liked to fish, my brother...chased the girls, I did what normal young kids do...play. Mom kept us fed, kept out of trouble (not that we would get into any that is), and showed us how to have a good time. Our camper was a 1972 Travel Mate 5th wheel. At 32 feet long it was home away from home. From what I can recall the rates per night were really low, like $2.00 per night. We camped until the cost was in the area of around $7.00 per night. As the years went by so did the trailer. My parents sold the Camper in 1979. Their reasons were "It is getting to expensive to camp." My Mom wanted to keep the trailer, but Dad wasn't enjoying camping due to the fact he had to work and camping for him came at a premium. So in the end it was sold, in the spring of 1979.

Time waits for no one! (1995)

Years later my Mom still wanted to go camping, but we had no trailer. Mom was diagnosed with cancer in early summer of 1995. All summer long I looked for our old trailer or a 5th wheel trailer that I could tow with my old S-10 truck. By that fall I had found a suitable replacement 5th wheel trailer, 1985 S-10 & 1983 Trailer a 1983 Scamp 5th wheel. At 19ft long and at 1750lbs (dry weight) my Chevy S-10 truck could tow my little camper, and my Mom could go camping again. To my girlfriend (Denise), it looked like a marshmallow with wheels. When I took the camper home, the look in My mother's eye, made the little trailer worth its weight in gold. To Mom, it was perfect and cute. a 1983 Scamp 19ft 5th wheel. We got all the camping supplies together for a weekend camping trip. It was set up in no time flat, with the fire crackling, food and drinks served, laughter filled the air around us. It was like years before...FUN! However, Mom couldn't stay due to the dampness in the night air, and she wasn't feeling her best. The rest of the weekend however, she came up to stay the day. After that weekend, it was to late in the season to go camping again, so we planed early for next year. My Mother never went camping again. On Easter Sunday 1996, Mom passed away at age 56.

New Friends & Happy Memories! (1996)

Since the passing of my Mother, my girlfriend (Denise) and I broke up, I lost my job and the thought of selling my rig has crossed my mind. Mom always said "Don't get rid of the trailer. You will miss camping." 1994 Raspberry S-10 + 1983 Scamp 5th wheel Trailer Well I listened. I found a new job, I have a new girlfriend (Kim), I purchased a new raspberry truck and I still have my little camper. Kim and I took the rig out in late summer (1996). It was great, but at the same time I missed the fun times with Mom and the family. My Dad came up to camp, so did my brother. We took the boat out, had a big cookout and laughed. It was fun again. We did some things that Mom taught us, and we shared what we knew with other campers. One that I thought everyone knew was, how to make the fire burn in solid blue, or solid green and even pink. Well not everone knows that trick I guess. Breakfast mornings are different with bannana pancakes. Lunch and dinner are changed a little now that I am the chef. My New 1994 Truck & 1983 Trailer So come along or stop by and say hi. There is always room for one more at camp, and something new is learned each time out. If you see my little rig out and about honk your horn if you drive by or stop in for a while and chat. Check back soon as this site will change frequently, don't forget to look at some links below.

Humble New Beginings for the Year 2000! (July-2000)

Well this year we went to our favorite camp ground again. Cole's Creek Campgound. My New 1994 Truck & 1983 TrailerAll started well, until we went to haul the camper up. It was then we found that the electric brakes decided not to work. Hmmm. Murphy's Law = If your all set to go, that is when you find something that is not. After a two and a half hour delay tracing the wireing, it was found in two places on the truck. The main power to the brake control had gone bad and later the main power feed to the campers brake system had broken. Soon we had that fixed and were off to the camp site. Other than the sun burn I recieved no other problems cropped up. Kim and I had some friends and family up to camp. Everybody pitched in to set up camp. Some helped me set up the camper, others tried to start the camp fire (one, who happened to be a firefighter and stated "I'm not good at starting fires...but I can put'em out!), and someone else helped stack the wood and help cook dinner (Hotdogs/Tubesteaks). We had a little bit of rain but not enough to dampen our fun. We cooked smores drank beer and wine coolers and even had a visit from a friend's (Tony & girlfriend-Michelle) parents, who shared some bannana boats with us from their camp site. I even had all the things needed to group all my web pages together in one picture. My New 1994 Truck & 1983 TrailerI have a picture or two and will post them as soon as I scan them in. Current News (2009)

Well lots of things happened in eight (8) years! I have lost my password to access my webpages, until now. I moved on to yet another job. Now I work for a small Telephone Company in the area. The little camper has been parked for several years (5 I think). I has several weeks of vacation saved up, so this year I hope to get the little camper ready and get some camping done! Keep Your eyes alert on this section as it will be changing throught the year!!!
