There are many different forms of paganism, and they are as diverse as the people who practice. I personally practice what is commonly called Wicca.  One definition of paganism is " Nature-worshipping, pantheistic".  Many years ago, anyone who did not follow the Christian belief was considered a pagan, however, this is far from an accurate description.  Modern pagans revere Earth and all her creatures, and strive to attune themselves with the cycles of nature. Many pagans also believe in more than one God, or at least more than one form. The most common belief is that deity resides in everything, in one form or another, and that because of that, all life is sacred.

Wicca is a bit more complex, as it is a faith that practices ceremonial magick, and requires that each follower be initiated in some way. Traditional Wiccan followers usually prefer a formal ritual or series of rituals to initiate new followers.  However, solitary practitioners, such as myself, believe the God and Goddess are the only initiators needed. Either way is fine, as long as the person is true of heart, and follows the path they feel is right.  Many Wicca use the word "Witch" to describe themselves, however, do not be mislead, there are many non-Wicca who also practice witchcraft.      Wiccan magick uses elemental forces and the energy that every living thing creates to manifest itself.

One common misconception about Paganism in general is that anyone that follows these beliefs worships "Satan."  What I would like to point out is that in order to worship "Satan," one would first have to believe that he exists.  Pagan religion does not accept the existence of "Satan" in any form.  This misconception caused the death of many innocent people during the witch hunts, and to this day causes many to be tormented and abused.  For this reason, many Pagans prefer to keep their beliefs private, even though these beliefs are considered more acceptable in modern days.

I cannot leave you in such a delusion.  It is your own blindness that
deludes you.  You see nothing, and so believe no man can see.  Our Lord is
not just a name, but all things.  That's why we have no ornament in our
churches, scorning any painted screen between us and our God.  Those
churches themselves are but tabernacles of the earth.  Our Elders and
Leaders, though they are Chosen and Anointed, are still but mortal men.  To
none of these things or people do we hearken in our faith, but to the very
voice of God within us.  Suppose it was even as you think.  Suppose that all
you say was a fact, and that our Elders were but greedy tyrants, ourselves
abandoned here by their selfish will and set to fulfill a false and pride full
purpose.  Let me attest as if it were only for myself.  Suppose that you
could give me proof that all our Elders lied, that our very Covenant was
false.  Suppose that you could prove to me that all was perversion and
falsehood, and nowhere among the Chosen, not even in the house of my father,
was there faith or hope.  If you could prove to me that no miracle could
save me, that no soul stood with me, and that opposed were all the legions
of the universe, still I, I alone, would go forward as I have been
commanded, to the end of the universe.  To the culmination of eternity.
