Books:

Wooden Boat Renovation:  New Life for Old Boats Using Modern Methods
 by Jim Trefethen.

This is an excellent source of information for anyone thinking of buying an older wooden boat.  It covers topics such as surveys, budgets, tools, woods, planking, hull repairs, decks, cabinetry, and paints.  The book is informative and an easy read.  Just click on the title and Amazon.com will show you it's description and reviews.

Painting & Varnishing (The Woodenboat Series) This series is edited by Peter H. Spectre.

While not as easy a read as Trefethen's book, the Wooden Boat Series offers a variety of information over a series of topics.  The edition on Painting and Varnishing is an excellent reference source for your library.

Web Sites:

Chris Craft.  Their official site does a lot more than just advertise their boats.  It's got a section for older Chris Crafts, as well as links to vendors of canvas, instruments, rebuilt motors, owners manuels, and of course, dealers.

Mariner's Museum.  The museum now has the official Chris Craft collection.  What's more, if you e-mail them your hull number, they'll be able to research your specific boat for you.  There's also a 1-800 number.
