Quetzal Photos
This photo of the Quetzal came from a one of those 'Trader' magazines. The old girl was originally being sold by a boat yard in Minnesota before Laura and I "acquired" her.
Here is the Quetzal as she was last lifted out of the water in October of 1999.
Here's the Quetzal being delivered to Huron, Ohio last September. And yes.... that's the trailer they hauled her down on. Now you can see how the frames were cracked.
This is the Quetzal as she sits in Huron. The cabinet door displays the interior color, which was known as "Cordova", 40 years ago. That door, along with others, is now stripped, sanded and restained in my garage. If you look along the exposed hull....about half way down, you'll see an area of peeling paint. That's about a 5'x10' area of plank replacement waiting to happen.
This is a shot of the galley. The refrigerator is a definite must keep original. The purple boomerang countertop however, may just be sacraficed for a corian one with a flush mounted sink.
Here's a shot of the bullnose on this Constellation. It's my understanding that not all Constellations were designed with a bullnose. What's more, supposedly the bullnose is one of the first things to seriously rot away and need replacement. This one however, is intact and solid.... one of the few things on the boat that can boast of those qualities.
Some Constellations only had an open area beside the dinette... kind of a place for a little sitting area. The upgrade to that was a sofa that converted into bunk beds.... thereby adding additional sleeping space. Now, I'm 6'4" and 225 lbs..... I'm not sleeping on that top bunk. My two boys are just the right size though.
