Here's all I did, pretty simple really:
1/ cheap plastic flashlight (mine was black). 1/ 8 inch plumbing pipe. 1/ door peep hole. 1/ length of cable wrap or similar grip/tubing. Tape (match the color of your flashlight). Glue (epoxy? hot glue? liquid nails?).
First I unscrewed the top of the flashlight and removed the bulb. Initially I had the door peep hole placed so that what would normally be on the outside of the door (the lens) was flush with the reflective bowl- I decided this looked too much like a flashlight, so I reversed the unit, sticking the lens down at the underside of the bowl and allowing the length of metal to remain exposed over the assembly. Put this somewhere to the side and don't loose it- It's your lens assembly. After removing the switch from the flashlight I sawed it into two parts. From the top I measured about 3 inches down and made the cut there. Using the saw again I cut a square shape out of the plastic, and then used a dremel tool to sand and shape the curve. this piece slides onto the aluminum down mouth down- the screw threads face the bottom of the tube, while the cut is pressed against the top lip of the metal. I used a thin strip of black gaffer's tape (electrical tape might work as well) to hold it in as well as to hide the uneven cut I made.
