The Gospel of Luke-- Chap 6

What are the qualifications of a disciple?

The Lord's qualifications are in relation with Christian character.

Luke 6:1:11

1st part - Contrast between grace and the law (Judaism)
Principle: Luke 6:9 (NIV) Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?"
Luke 6:12-16 - Choosing of the twelve apostles
Luke 6:17-19 - Apostles - Disciples - Crowds
He ministered to all - but taught his disciples: To the Lord, there is a distinction between apostles, disciples and the crowds.
The crowds came to hear and to be healed. Jesus chose disciples to teach them to minister.

He began a long teaching from verse 20-7:1

1st: The law of discerment:

Out of the crowd comes out 2 kinds of people.

Good Man
Brings good things out
of the good stored in his heart
Evil Man
Brings evil things out
of the evil stored in his heart

2nd: The law of building:

2 kinds of people:
1st: He calls: "Lord, Lord", does not do what the Lord says. Opposite of what a disciple is (student, learner). Part of the crowd.
2nd: One who comes to the Lord out of the crowd, hears the words of the Lord, and put them into practice. (Wise man who dig deep and lay his foundation on the Rock. (Foolish man does not practice, he builds on sand (changing values, on uncertainties, on material but not eternal). (Zhen Jing bu pa hong, huo)

Look at the contrast in this sermon: V. 20-34

Different from crowds (description above on the right)
Be like your Heavenly Father: (Father-Son; Teacher-disciples). Kind to the ungrateful, Merciful.
Names of God as His Character:
(2 Rewards) 1. You'll be called Sons of the Lost High. 2. Your reward will be great.  Do not judge nor condemn. Instead Forgive and (Reward) you'll be forgiven.  (A blind man leading a blind man). A sinner leading a sinner:
If anyone in the right category is leading someone in the crowd, they will both fall into the pit...
If anyone from the right category lead anyone, can it produce any Christian character, any spiritual fruits?
Can a sinner produce a disciple? Can a worldly, selfish, or dishonest person produce disciples?  Watch who you are learning from? Don't entrust your soul, your spiritual life to just anyone or anu church just because the eprson or the church is popular? or because it looks good at the outside?
Today, there are many things that look good that is preached or practiced in Church and it does not match God's character...
Everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher...
If you are influenced by people who are not true disciples, you will become like them.  The law of applying truth to self:
(This sermon is good for so and so.)
