Flatland
Back Yard - In order to do a backyard, first get into a backwards riding position.
Put both feet on the back pegs, while sitting on the handlebars. Apply the front
and back brakes to stop and immediately stand up and take your right foot off
the peg and kick the back tire forwards. After a good kick, apply the back brake
and pull up on the handlebars. From here your foot has to take over for braking.
With your foot on the back tire release the back brake and let go of that grip
(you use this arm for balance). Kick the back tire forwards and drag your foot on
the tire as you bring your foot to the original position.
This will keep the front wheel off the ground. Once you're through scuffing,
let the front wheel drop to the ground and roll in the same direction for a little
bit. Apply the brakes again and step back on to the pedal so that you return to
the backwards riding position. From there maneuver yourself back to the regular
riding position and ride it out.
Front Yard - All you need to do is roll along slowly and and put your right foot
over the handlebars. Apply the front brake, step on the tire with
your right foot, and move your left foot from the pedal to the peg. Once you're
on the front of the bike release the front brakes and start to scuff the front wheel.
This trick is usually done with one hand on the handlebars and the other free to
swing around in the air for balance. Once you've had enough, you can allow the
back wheel to drop to the ground, move your left foot back to the pedal and pull
your right foot over the bars and ride it out.
Funky Chicken - All you need to here is to maneuver yourself so that you are rolling
backwards and your right foot is over the cross on the top tube and your left foot is on the left
front peg (Spin around like a fire hydrant). Grab the the seat with your right hand and apply the
front brake. Pull up on the seat and start scuffing the front wheel. You can take your hand off
of the grip if you feel a need to be extra cool. Once you're through with that, you can let the
back wheel hit the ground and do a smoothie out of it. You can also stop and pull your leg
over the bar and maneuver yourself back to a normal riding position.
Lard Yard - To do a lard yard, do a half-lash, and when you are in position, apply
the back brakes and let go with your left hand. Twist the bars 180 degrees and pull
up. At the same time you should be looking at your back wheel and starting to scuff.
This trick is usually done in circles and is easier if you tweak your elbow upwards,
into the air. To ride out, apply the back brake, grab the grip with your left hand,
and let the front wheel hit the ground. Step on the pedal and ride away.
Elephant Glide - To do an elephant glide, get to a handlebar
ride position(Bar-Hop, etc.). From there, you can sit on the bars and
grab the seat with your right hand, then apply the front brake to get the back wheel
off the ground. Stand up and pull the frame around to your right side and start
to scuff. When you're done, you can move the frame so that
it's behind you, drop the back wheel, and exit like a handlebar ride.
Dump Truck - To do a Dump Truck, turn your handlebars backwards and roll slowly
while standing on the back pegs. Pull up into a wheelie with your right foot behind you
for balance. Once you are solid in that position, tap the front brakes to stop your
wheel from spinning, then grab on to the right side of the front fork. Once you are
in this position, let go of the handlebars with your left hand and turn the
bars 90 degrees. Balance there long enough to pull your right leg through to the
front and put it on the back tire. (This is the hardest part of the trick, The longer
you can balance in this "halfway" position, the easier it is to pull your leg
through and get it to the tire before you fall backwards It also helps to look
down at your backtire so that you are sure to put it in the right place.) Once you
are in the dumptruck position, scuff the back tire. There are
many ways to exit this trick. You can turn the bars forward while you're scuffing
and switch hands on the pegs so that you can reach back and grab the grip. Then once you
grab
the grip, stop scuffing and leave your foot on the tire as a brake and lower your front
wheel to the ground. Then manuver into a regular riding position and ride away.
Oxford Sphere - Before you do this trick, you should be able
to pull a wheelie and hold it for about 10 to 30 seconds. To do it,
pull a wheelie, do a double bar spin, then bunny hop on to the front
tire and do a tailwhip.
Backwards Time Machine - Roll forwards on your back pegs. Once your
going at a good speed do a foot endo and keep your left or right foot on the peg. When you
come down, tap the back brake lightly so you can pull up your bike and do a backwards
manual. Now, jump around so your right foot is on the left back peg or vice versa. Grab the
front left peg and pull it up so your rolling backwards with the bike straight up. Quickly jump
around the bike so your left foot is on the left peg.
Street
60/40 grind - when there is a rail that has a high railing and
a low rail attached on one. You land your back peg on the high
rail and the front peg on the low rail.Submited by rbwal@telusplanet.net
Fakie wallride - find a bank into a wall and instead of
going along the wall riding you go straight up the wall and
180 off it.Submited by rbwal@telusplanet.net
Rollercoaster grind - you need 2 rails really close together.
There must be a space for your tires 2 fit in between them.
you bunnyhop in between the rails and land all 4 pegs. 2 on
one rail and 2 on the other. Like you are on a rollercoaster.Submited by rbwal@telusplanet.net
Smith grind - Hop up onto a surface. Land on your back wheel. Bring your
front peg down onto the edge of the surface and grind across it. This is
an awkward position to grind in if you aren't used to it.
Nosepick grind - Get some good speed and hop up onto a railing. land on your
front peg and grind down it. I would recommend wearing a helmet when learning
this trick.
Dirt Jumping/Vert
Flare - A flare is basically a backflip with a 180. When you are in the air, pull back on the
handlebars like you are doing a backflip. When you do the backflip and you are staring at the
ground, turn your handlebars to the right hard and swing the tail of the bike out.Once you do
this, land.
Back Flip - Pedal and get a good amount of speed. Keep your feet on the
pedals when you take off. Pull up on the bars, arch your back,
tip your head back, and keep your eyes on the landing ramp. While in the
air, keep your hands on the bars and your body in a low position.
Land on your front wheel and bring the back wheel down
on the ramp. Land with knees bent and be prepared to fall
the first dozen times or so. If you land on your back wheel,
you'll bounce forward and over the handlebars. Don't over
rotate the flip.
Suicide Flip - In a regular flip, your bars would go straight up, but
a suicide flip goes from the side. Here's how! Push your bars to the
side and your frame will follow. If your flipping right tuck your
left foot under your left peddle or vice versa. When your landing
suck in your chest so you fall back. It's like doing a barrel-roll
on a bike.
Superman Seat-Grab Truckdriver - When you hit the jump quickly
spin 360 degrees, while you are spinning take one hand off the handlebars
and grab the nose of the seat. With the other hand spin the
handlebars 360 degrees. Wile you do this, take your feet off the
pedals and stick them out like superman. Then bring your hands and
feet back to the pedals and bars and land.
Cliff Hanger - First get alot of air. Then take your feet off of the
pedals, hook them under the bars. Stick your arms straight up like
you are hanging from your feet. Bring everything back and land.
No-footer/No-hander - This is just pure suicide. Wile in the air, let go of
the handlebars and jump off the pedals. Now comes the secret part, try to land
back on the bike and land safely.
360 tailwhip - start to do a 360. When you get 180 degrees around, kick your
frame around the other way. Keep on spining when you get 360 degrees around,
catch your frameand put your feet on the pedals and land.
"Straight out" No-hander - Instead of lifting your arms straight
up with the bike in a vertical position, like in a no hander, put
your arms straight out to the sides with the bike in a horizontal
position. The bike tends to nose-dive when you take your hands off
like this. When you take off, lean back and pinch the seat with
your knees. Doing this will help keep the nose of the bike level.
Then take both hands off the bars, at the same time and stretch
your arms straight out to the sides. Pull them in and land.
No-footed Can-can - Take both feet off the pedals and and stick
them both out to the same side of the bike. Bring them in and land.
360 - You don't really need much air to do a 360. Start the rotation before
the bike completely leaves the ground. Don't go too fast at first.
start to turn before your bike leaves the ground. Turn your head
and handlebars hard to one direction. Where your head leads, your body
follows. Don't focus any where on the ground but the landing ramp.
Because where you focus is where you stop rotating.
Toboggan - A Toboggan is exactly like the old school flatland trick
"Miami Hoppers" But only in the air. Let the front of the bike drop
straight down. Lean way back over the seat like you are going to
sit on the back tire.Take your left hand off the bars and grab the
nose of the seat. Pull back on your right hand so the bars turn 90
degrees to the left. If you can land it you can do a toboggan.
Barspin - Lean back to balance out the bike because the nose will often drop.
Pinch the seat with your knees, and spin the bars. catch them and land.
Learn this on the ground first.(see barspin: flatland these aren't too
bad) Start out doing half bar spins first. Land with your bars backwards.
When you get good at that, try full barspins.
Liquid sword - When approaching a dirt jump, get your left pedal down. After
jumping off the ramp, jump off to the left side of your bike. While doing this, let go of the left
grip and grab it with your right hand. When you're on the left side, put your right foot on the
left front peg and kick it backwards. This will make the bike start to do a flip. When it is
back to a normal position, get back on and prepare to land.
Front peg grab - This trick requires a lot of air time. The more air time you got the
easier it will be. While in the air lean over the handlebars and grab your front pegs. Come back
and land. Pull the bike up before you start to reach for the pegs. This will keep the bike from
tipping too forward. Be careful! This one will really knock the wind out of you if you do not
make it back in time.
