Mr. William (29NC002) with some friend, Neill(29NC001), Patrick(29NC017) and Eddie(29NC003), came together and started the Na Ceiltigh DX Radio Group in January 1994. They felt that a lot of the big groups were looking for membership fees on regular, normally annual, basis. Their theory was to keep the life membership package to the minimum fee possible and QSL cards at a good value price. Neill, wishing to find an original card, searched various sources, such as history books, to make the original DX cards.
Choosing the name for the group was a challenge but they knew they did not want a modern day effort so they chose to remember their ancestors the celts, which is the translation of the Irish phrase Na Ceiltigh. Also they felt that all Europeans could relate to the title as they too are descendants of the ancient celts.
Na Ceiltigh management are excited about the progress of the group, as at this time, over twenty countries have confirmed members.
Liam, 68NC001, contacted a NC member in France (Colin 010) who was actually the person to put Liam in touch with William in the 29 division. William in turn offered Liam the top notch position and from their our group expanded.
Upon additional work commitments, William transferred HQ to Belfast, under the leadership of Liam and myself.
Anyone wishing to join can do so by contacting Liam at the listed PO Box number. Membership is for life but to facilitate the clubs magazine HQ will be organising various fund-raising events. The first of these is the Duck Derby which will be held on Sunday 1st August 1999.
This is a summary but I hope you found it interesting,
