And that means.... Sorry, no Spanish version of the site... I never even took Spanish... Best I can understand of it (through the help of http://babelfish.altavista.com) is "Again, attempt to open your eyes." Um, okay then, whatever... sorry if that translation is horribly wrong, but that's the best I could do...

content: In regards to your old topic of calling annoying e-mail messages SPAM I say the following: SPAM is an acronym. It stands for Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages. In regards to your current topic of being anti-McDonald's I say this: I worked at a McDonald's for over two-and-a-half years, and they are a good company. I don't think that the location of their suppliers should be of any concern to you or anyone else. Please for the love of god GET A LIFE you tree-hugger! If you want to see what the real problems people face today are check out this website:

They will show you what's up.

Often times I get responses like this from people who enter other people's e-mail addresses. I'm sorry if you were not the person who submitted this to my website at http://dunkin256.tripod.com (mirror site: http://members.fortunecity.com/hammurabi)
Okay, onto the reply:
Hello,
Wow, okay, first of all, I've been meaning to update that old site... It looks like you submitted it through the fortunecity one. Unfortunately, my college does not allow access to the correct FTP site for me to update it here. I will do that as soon as I return home for spring break though to make sure no more misunderstanding happen like this again.
First of all, the SPAM thing. I've heard various explanations of it, the best one being that the word was stolen from Monty Python's Spam sketch where the word was repeated over and over again ad nauseum. I believe that is the true origin of the word.
But that is irrelevant mainly because it was a joke! You do not seem to get the meaning of the word when I explained it was only meant to be humor when I was just beginning to explore the internet and build my html skills.
As for your attacks on my beliefs, that I do not appreciate. It's good that you had a job in a McDonalds for over two-and-a-half years. I'm glad you're not one more of the lazy masses. As for the opinion on whether or not McDonalds is a good company, that is irrelevant again. We are all entitled to opinions. I cannot say yours is wrong, but I can tell you that where their suppliers are located are of concern when they decided to lie under oath about it (See John Vidal's book called "McLibel") Did you even know about the McLibel trial in England? Surely, any company willing to oppress free speech (which I see you are supporting on the website you gave me, and yes, I know that is for internet free speech, but free speech just the same.) I see that you are not a tree-hugger yourself. Personally, when you called me one, I took that as a compliment. I am currently the president of my student organization, SAFE (Student Action For Earth), and I have been involved with grass-roots environmentalism for quite some time. I am also a vegetarian, which you seem to lack spelling skills for on your website. You say I should get a life. I say I already have one, I'm trying to bring about awareness of the many injustices done to the planet we live on. This *must* be done, for the ultimate future will be one with no life. Unfortunately, only people uneducated about the biological diversity that the rainforest holds (possible cures for cancer, AIDS, etc.) would say something as arrogant as "I could personally care less about the rain forest." Do you not realize how precious that ecosystem is to the entire workings of the biosphere? The diversity is the prime reason, but others hinge on oxygen production.
Please know that I do not intend to sound like I know it all either. I confess, I am not omniscient. I do know, however, that just because you worked at the company (and by the way, what lever were you working at? There's a difference between the opinion of a burger-flipper and the opinion of perhaps an attorney for the company) does not mean you are well-informed about all of their wrongdoings in the company. Did you have any knowledge of how the slaughter houses owned by McDonalds are allowed to "let 5 out of every 100 cows be skinned and dismembered while still alive"? For that reference, turn to John Robbins' book, "The Food Revolution." Please take the time to rethink your position on this issue after you have become better informed.
That's enough for now, if you wish to discuss this topic further, let me know and I will be able to cite resources for you as much as I can to back up my statements.
Thanks again for the reply.
Sincerely,
-Ryan
