Picture a lemon pie...If it's a favorite, then you're probably satisfied when you can acquire a piece of it for yourself. But, there are always some of us who want something to give it more appeal, some extra substance (more than just the basic recipe); a special topping called "meringue".
That is exactly what MUSTANG MERINGUE is: mustangs whose owners have added that special topping and given their animal an advantage, that winning quality to stand out above the others.
Mustang Meringue IS NOT A CLUB or a general membership organization, but instead a "by invitation only" group of individuals who aspire to exhibit the mustang horse to its full potential. Its purpose is to prove to equestrian enthusiasts that the breed can compete in any event, at top level. We hope to encourage proper and advanced training for all disciplines and want it to be considered an honor to be asked to perform and represent Mustang Meringue.
Qualities we desire in a Meringue show horse are those one would expect to see in any horse exposed to the public: controllable (not to be interpreted as docile), of good flesh, emaculate grooming, proper tack for chosen discipline, and clean tack. Several considerations have been taken into account prior to inviting any certain mustang to represent Mustang Meringue. We in turn want handlers to be professional and knowledgeable in concern to their horse and riding discipline. We are looking at the horse and rider as a whole and the picture they present to the public.
The "in hand", or green mustang can also participate with Mustang Meringue, but for the most part will have restrictions until they prove themselves capable to handle certain situations. All owners are expected to be aware of their limitations and willing to show support for the more experienced animals that can better represent the breed in certain circumstances.
Our animals are true ambassadors being put on display and exhibiting in the arena. Often they are called upon to greet the public at Wild Horse Adoptions across the country. If you know of a "special" mustang, please inform the owner of this group and have them contact us for information. The more outstanding mustangs we know of the better we can assist BLM when called upon for an ambassador for the breed.
