Discussion Forum Guidelines

The moderating philosophy for the forum is simple:  The less "official" interference, the better. This is the Internet, though--debates can get heated, emotions can run high, and some people just aren't nice.

On every message there is an "Options" drop-down menu.  If it's simply a personality conflict between you and another poster, please use the option to "Ignore this author".  If, however, you believe a post or poster has violated Forum Policy, please choose "Report Violation" to contact the moderators with your concerns.

Spam isn't kosher
Any unauthorized, unsolicited advertising for goods, services, affiliate programs, or links to unrelated  Internet fora, proclamations of impending doom, prophecies or political statements will be immediately deleted and the poster locked out.

You called my mama a what?!?!
Personal insults, hate speech of any kind, name-calling and general "flaming" have no place in our forum.  While discussion of Orthodox/Conservative/Reform differences does have its place, "movement bashing" does not.  Insulting remarks about any movement of Judaism or any person's affiliation with a movement will not be tolerated.

Leave your baggage at the door
"Carry over" bickering from another forum or discussion of another forum's moderators, members or policy is rude and disruptive.

Who said that?
Remember, copyright infringement violates the Delphi TOS. So if you're going to quote something or someone, give proper credit. Usually that means you need to cite the source and ideally post a link.

Put a shirt on
Sexually explicit or provocative signature graphics are inappropriate and will be removed.

Spreading the "Good News"?  Spread elsewhere
Missionizing will not be tolerated in any form.  People have been trying to convert Jews for over two millennia, and we're tired of it.  Examples of missionizing would include promoting "Jews for Jesus" or so-called "Messianic Judaism," or posting 'testimonies', prayers, and scripture quotations from other faiths (not limited to Xianity).  This includes signatures, which may be edited at the moderators' discretion.

There's nothing funny about harassment
Unwanted contact with another forum member or moderator will not be tolerated
This includes:
-Harassing e-mails (sexual or otherwise)
-Direct or implied threats of unsolicited 'real life' contact or physical harm
-Delphi identity theft
-"Carry-over" contact from any other Internet forum
-Unauthorized publication of identifying information, including physical description, real name or geographic location of any other member or forum moderator
Enforcement of this rule may include immediate and permanent banishment from the forum, reporting the offender to Delphi TOS, and/or contacting law enforcement authorities.  Do not cross this line.

The staff of the forum will use any of the tools available to us to maintain a friendly, respectful atmosphere. Violations of forum policy will be dealt with at the moderators' discretion, which may include a simple "friendly reminder" e-mail, editing offensive posts or signatures, temporary gagging or even immediate lockout without warning, depending on the offense.

If you are locked out of the forum, you may assume this means you are locked out permanently and that you should not attempt to enter and post again on the forum using alternate ID's. If you regret your actions, and plan to change them going forward, you may ask the moderators to be let back in. However, re-entry is at the discretion of the moderators; if you persist in coming back into the forum using multiple ID's, or harassing the moderators via e-mail or in any other way, you will be reported to TOS at Delphi.

I've read the guidelines, take me to the Jewish Q&A forum!
