Fighter Agaist Fighter Who Has The Best
Please start this as a new string. I would like very much to see if the people who view your site have and would be willing to give opinions as to which of the worlds first line fighter aircraft would comeout on top in plane V plane fights assuming almost equal pilot competency. For example the F-15 is rather old at this point could it really handle a Su-27 one on one. Can the F-18E beat the Mig-29? Is the F-16 able to handle all comers in a close in engagement ? How does thew Rafale fit into this mix and the newest Saab. Can the Euro Fighter match up with the aircraft it may meet in combat ? I would really appreciate any opinions on these matchups and others I haven't mentioned.

So much will depend on who sees who first and who has the better missiles. So what I am saying is that the aircraft is only as good as it's equipment. The plane with the better radar will get off the first shot. The plane with the more accurate missil will get the first kill. Just my opinion it would really take a lot of research to properly answer this question.

The SU 27 sure looks purty :) I think that acleaned up E version of the F-18 would be very hard to beat in a dog fight. The only thing I can't figure out is the canard business. If canards help so much why not design the aircraft with them to begin with like the Rafale. If they are so usefull in aiding performance why don't any of the United States aircraft companies put them in their designs. Sure would like to get an opinion on that.

I'll chip in my opinion here but I am no expert. I feel the latest mark F-16 can probably handle the Rafale and Typhoon 2000. It should also be able to handle the Grippen. The F-18 seems to be superb platform and should do well one on one with the Mig-29. I do have a big question mark about any aircraft beating the Su-27 and its newer marks. If the F-22 lives up to its press realeses it may be the answer.
