Really Nice Model Kits

I would l;ike to start a discussion about models we (us plastic nuts) build and collect. I just built two models that I can highly recommend.
The first is the LSSC Light Seal Support Craft by DML in 1/35 scale. The moldings where crisp and clean. The plastic was heavy enough to be easily worked. The step by step instructions were great. Many extras were included including a great set of navy seal figures with their weapons and equipment. The finished model is a fine addition to my collection.
The second model I just finished is the Trumpeter 1/48 scale SU 15 TM. The instructions are first rate and the decal sheet is very good. It built up into a wonderfully different and interesting model. It is a big aircraft and one not seen often.

I will put in a comment here. I just added 2 Trumpeter SU15s to my Gray Air Force. One is the SU15 A the other is an SU15 TM. They built up into very impressive models. I intend to add more of the TM version soon. The only problem I can find with the kits is the price which is quite high.

This is about kits I am pleased with and not so happy about. I just built an Italeri M977 truck kit. The instructions were great because it was a complicated kit and would have never been finished without those instructions being so good. I am not pleased with two Testors kits that I just built. The first is the Testors Lear Jet. The plastic is very thin and distorts easily. The parts fits suck. The second is the Testors Banshee kit. It was not bagged in the box so the parts were floating around loose. The parts are very simple and the decal impressions are on the parts. Not a very good kit.

Thanks for writing Tom. I like the Italeri truck kits to. I have built both the M977 and M978 and am happy with them. I have no comment on the Testors Lear I can only say I will stay away from it now that I have read your post.
I do have a comment on the Banshee kit. It is a re-release of the Hawk kit that was made very long ago.
Testors made no attempt to upgrade the molds so you get a kit made with thirty year old molds and technology. Not nice and as you say very simple but it is the only model of that interesting aircraft in 1/48 scale.
