My first calling card
I became exhausted with this assignment. I was upset, now I am angry. The second day I have no
success. I tried do picture tube with cherubin pictures, given in tutorials
firstly. Here I demonstrate my pictures:
1. I open a new transparent image of about 200x170 pixels, 24 bit. I did it
transparent and with grids. The layer for new picture is background. I can't it do
layer1.

2. I open the picture card4A.jpg, increase in 16 million
colors, click on bacground layer and get "layer1". Take my
magic wand and slect any interior grey areas. Invert, modify-feather2, invert
and delete. Deselect my image, do drop shadow and sharpen.I paste my
image in the left site of my new image. |

I open my image "calogoA.jpg". Double click on
my layout palette and get the Layer1. I do the same things until I paste
my image on right site of new image. The result is that my new image is
with layer "background" and can't to export my images into
tubes. |

I get : "To save the image as a Picture Tube,
the images must be 24 bit and have only one layer with transparency. It
seems I have one layer and the new picture I have done in 24 bits." |
| But the new image is
background and I can't do anything. I got the advice from guiltress to
click on background layer (in the layer palette) and click "Promote
to layer". Once I succeeded it on my new image but than I couldn't
do nothing with my images, neither by double clicking, or by
"Promote to layer".

Finally I know
the reason of my failure. I tried to read about layers and found other material
about making tubes: http://www.pspusersgroup.com/edu/tut/psp7.htm
Maybe this
tutorial is written in more clearly way for us without experience.
My mistake: I
used to open the new image in white background and only later I used to
set the transparency for it. So I
couldn’t apply my new image into layer1. Here is the valentine card, made with
cherub tubes.

Of cource it is not good work only experiments and
learning.
With this pictures I couldn't aplly them to layers before not
selecting with magic wand firstly. I didn't need them to increase to 16
milion colors. I inverted them once, without "Feather" and
inverting the second time. |

I got the advise: to correct the cat picture. After
inverting, I went to selections and contracted the first picture by 2,
the second by 1. |

I
took the image peachmixbg_m.gif, selected with the magic wand (tolerance
– 42) and set the bacground layer to layer1. Inverted and feathered
selection by 2 pixels, inverted and deleted the beige, sharpened.
Created
a drop shadow of color black, opacity 50, blur of 8, horizontal and
vertical of 1. Exported to tubes and named border.

There
is my first created calling card, the result of study in Selflearning PSP
program since October, 1999.
I wanted to do border round the card, but I
can’t for a while.
I enjoy the study very much.

I got the advice to put a border, but I wanted fancy
border...That braun border I made with tubes...I don't know how to
rotate the tube.
