Growing Up
As your kitten grows dramatic events occur.

Your kitten starts to develop an excellent sense of smell. The kitten will rapidly gain weight. When he is around four weeks old he will begin to groom himself, and other kittens in the litter, rather than being groomed by their mother. They will start to explore and will soon be in every corner of the house.

Kittens will play together, and have mock fights and may look quite ferociously to people looking on it`s real purpose is to practice the art of self-defence and this is all part of growing up. Rival kittens will steal each other`s toys to establish who is the boss.

Between seven to nine weeks all the milk teeth are through and can bed fed entirely on solid food, two or three meals daily.  The kittens remain very close with their mother and to each member of the litter but will gradually lose some of the closeness as they get older.

At around four to six months females should be neutered and males at six months.

At six months your kitten can venture out into the big wide world. Cats love to explore and will mark out their territories to warn of any other cats. They will still be playful but will become calmer and less boisterous.
