Adolescence
Your kitten will grow very fast.
Unneutered female cats can start to mate when they get to be around six months to a year old. Males are not mature enough until they are twelve to fifteen months old.
When your cat has been neutered or spayed, they are more at risk of becoming overweight
so don't over feed them and make sure they get enough exercise.
For cats the risk of becoming overweight increases after three, but decreases after the age of six.
Remember that a cat fed a healthy diet will live a longer and better and happier life.
As your kitten becomes an adult he will sleep for a lot of the day, sometimes for sixteen hours. Cats will often snuggle close together even as they get older especially if they are from the same litter. Cats are very good at finding the sunniest spots and can be often found on the garden shed having a nice quiet snooze.
When around six months old, kittens can be left for up to 24 hours, if food and water are provided.
Remember some cats are just born hunters and will try and catch mice, birds or any other unsuspecting creature and unfortunately there's very little you can do to curb their natures. You might find putting a bell on their collar might help stop your cat from catching anything a little bit but they will always manage to catch something.
Kittens will stalk their toys, pounce on them and carry them off triumphantly, just as they would treat a live mouse or a bird. primitive instincts lie behind such innocent games.
