Parkinson's Disease
There is presently no known cure for Parkinson's Disease. However most patients respond well to both drug and physical therapy and new drugs in different combinations are coming on the market. Once started on anti-Parkinson medications, the patients will probably remain on them for the rest of their lives, although adjustments will be made periodically. Various forms of surgery have been used with some success.
Parkinson's is a degenerative disorder. However, the rate at which the disease progresses varies from individual to individual. Most patients will be able to remain active for many years with good control of symptons.
About PACT
Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of the month, except for November and December, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at First Christian Church, 1203 North Fulton Street, Denton, TX.
The Board of Directors consists of persons who have a special skill or helpful information.
A typical meeting will consist of sharing experiences, a guest speaker who is something of an authority, and a question and answer session. Refreshments will follow. Members' interests guide in the choice of topics.
Members receive a telephone call a few days before a meeting as a reminder, to give some idea of the program, and to inquire as to health.
We have a small library and regularly receive the latest information from national foundations. Materials may be taken home. Members are encouraged to bring in clippings.
Membership dues are five dollars per person per year.
