Ability to analyze market needs and segments, and conceptualize, define, and position products to exploit them. My engineering background allows me to balance desirable features with practical development and estimate the time, cost, and success of a development project.

Sales

Able to quickly analyze customer needs and devise a solution, using both internal and external products. My field experience and technical background enable me to estimate product and program costs, formulate a proposal, and if necessary, manage development of a solution for the customer. Able to prepare and present sales proposals or detailed technical specifications.

Design Engineer,

Packaging Division

Responsible for all engineering activities pertaining to the release of a process verification system for the packaging, converting, and product assembly industries. This includes project management, product definition, competitive analysis, design, prototype, test, manufacture, and procurement. I have:

  • Implemented various elements of project management and concurrent engineering principles in the handling of multiple vendors, internal customers, and external customers thus meeting performance parameters while reducing project life cycles by 30% of the projected duration.
  • Managed three designers during the process of releasing this product.
  • Worked closely with manufacturing and purchasing to address issues regarding manufacturability, costs, and vendor relations. This included, but was not limited to, the hands-on involvement with a pilot build.
  • Involved in legal, logistical, and engineering related issues pertaining to supply chain management with critical vendors associated with this product.
  • Managed all engineering activities related to the introduction of this product at the premier trade show in the packaging industry.

Applications Engineer,

Paper Converting Division

Senior engineer responsible for technical and management activities related to the engineering support of the introduction of a newly acquired product line to the North American paper converting market. I was involved in strategic decisions, management, and engineering of products in this market, working closely with the acquired Dutch subsidiary that owned the product line. I also:

  • Advised management regarding accounting and project management activities, implementing a project accounting system based on the accepted corporate accounting methods.
  • Acted as our engineering liaison with the acquired Dutch subsidiary who manufacturers the products related to this industry. Assisted in engineering enhancements through participation in a multinational project team, making periodic trips to Europe. Helped identify and resolve critical engineering infrastructure issues regarding revision control and differences between European and American engineering standards.
  • Worked frequently on the "front-lines" with customers and OEM's in identifying opportunities for process improvements. Served as the "champion" on the customer's behalf in addressing a wide range of issues pertaining to their application/s and managed these issues using domestic and international resources.

Associate Applications Engineer,

Applications and Custom Engineering, 

North American Sales Division

Developed custom solutions to various applications in the North American packaging and product assembly markets. In these endeavors I:

  • Developed a patented heat exchanger that improved the performance and ergonomics of the overall system. These improvements had the ultimate result of reducing our customer's throughput defects.
  • Supported the introduction of an electrostatic cable coater used in the manufacture of copper, aluminum, and fiber optic wire and cable constructions. Trained field engineers in the maintenance of this product. Provided sales assistance, as needed, in proposals and presentations.
  • Worked with our German subsidiary in improving the design of the aforementioned electrostatic cable coater.
  • Participated in a corporate wide international consortium regarding the wire and cable industries. Presented design concepts for a second-generation version of the aforementioned electrostatic cable coater.
  • Managed an $180,000 budget and project schedule for the reengineering of the aforementioned electrostatic cable coater. This resulted in a successful prototype which was later implemented and marketed worldwide by our Swedish subsidiary.

Lab Engineer,

Applications and Custom Engineering, 

North American Sales Division

Responsible for determining and testing critical process parameters for various applications involving thermoplastic adhesive extrusion systems. Iinvolved with the integration of such applications in the customer's factory. I also:

  • Demonstrated the feasibility of an automated robotic extrusion system for bonding carpet to the rear window tray for the 1994 Ford Mustang.
  • Demonstrated the feasibility of an automated robotic extrusion system for bonding headlight lenses to the main headlight assembly for various Toyota products. Installed and supported beta systems for this application.
  • Supported feasibility studies within the packaging and product assembly markets involving companies such as Anheuser Busch, Proctor and Gamble, Ford, General Foods, and various others.
