The "Golden Angle"

.

What is it ?

All through time man has sought to understand nature and it's composition. Why are things the way they are ? Why are we the way we are ? And does nature follow some hidden formula. The answer to this, to me and many others, is a resounding yes. Many scientists of today have noticed how the "golden mean" appears almost everywhere in nature. I also contend that where it does not appear in nature we simply haven't found it yet. But I further wish to infer that the Ancients knew this as well and especially the builders of the Great Pyramid at Gizah. From the largest workings of the universe to the way in which DNA coils itself can all be shown to follow this magic proportion. I will get to the DNA later but for now let me qualify my statement about the Ancient Egyptians.

Many authors have speculated and, at least to me proven, that both Pi and Phi are inherent in the Great Pyramid but many have doubted their findings. I think I have stumbled onto an almost undeniable one that I don't feel can be ignored or explained away as a co-incidence. Let me add here that I originally did not start out to find Phi in the GP but simply became obsessed with squaring the circle, the old problem of the Ancient Greeks, using just compass and ruler. What follows is a direct result of those attempts and study. This is just one by-product of my study of squaring the circle and I will post the rest as time allows but for now this should prove to be revealing and entertaining if nothing else.

The Great Pyramid at Gizah, majestic, awe-inspiring ..... huge ! Many have argued for whom was it built and even though I have strong feelings on this it is best left for another page. My query here is to why it was built to the size and angles and dimensions that it was. This too leads to unbridled passionate arguing. Perhaps the following will help you see the why part of it.

According to Mark Lehner's recent book "The Complete Pyramids" the angle of the GP is 51 degrees 50 minutes 40 seconds. There have been many other angles stated for this slope since it almost impossible, with the amount of stones missing, to come to an exact measurement. Since, I assume, Mark Lehner used the most up to date meausring devices I will, for my arguments, use his. While studying various other things ( squaring of the circle) I noted a very curious fact. In some books I had read ( Genisis by David Wood for one) it alluded to the fact that Isis was always represented by the number 18. Well I felt that perhaps the angle 18 was represented by Isis instead so I did a little reading and studying and found that the sine of 18 degrees is .30901699437494 So what you might ask. Well then for some reason I decided to multiply by 2. I think because of all the legends saying that the one begat two. ( Especially the Egyptian one where the original God begat 2 siblings) Multiplying this number by two gives us AMAZINGLY....the "GOLDEN MEAN" So Isis (or the sine of the angle 18 ... or the sine of Isis ... or the SIGN of Isis ..... or Isis) times 2 (or doubled ...as in Osiris and Isis) equals .61803398874989484820 which is EXACTLY the golden mean. Interesting but there is more. I decided to find out what angle generates a sine of .61803398874989484820. Guess what I found. the angle that generates a sine of the golden mean or as I call it now the "GOLDEN ANGLE" is 38 degrees 10 minutes 21.75 seconds. Now according to the age old theorem when we subtract this angle from 90 degrees we are left with ....... 51 degrees 49 minutes 38.25 seconds. This is only slightly more than 1 minute off of the agreed upon angle that Mark Lehner says is the angle of the GP. Now I contend that with all the erosion and damage it is not hard to imagine that the angle of the GP is indeed the GOLDEN ANGLE which I have stated above and that this is indeed what the Ancient Egyptians were trying to tell us or at least show us. Now Rudolf et al is this still just a coincidence?
