Egg donation - for donors |
|
Will any resulting child be able to trace me?
The HFEA holds information about all donations that have taken place since the HFE Act, including identifying information about all donors. This information is not available to adult offspring or anybody else. However the law has recently changed. Donor-conceived people born from donations that take place after April 2005 will be able to get identifying information about their donor when they reach the age of 18.
There is only one circumstance where your name may be passed on to the child before this date: if a child has been born with a disability as a direct result of your failure to be honest about your medical history, they may decide to sue the clinic and donor for damages. The chances of this happening are slim.
