Egg donation - for donors |
The main possible complications are covered in the pages about the risks of undergoing treatment. These are:
You will be given a painkiller before the collection procedure, you may wake up feeling some discomfort and this might continue for a couple of days following the procedure. The usual pain relief is an over the counter preparation such as aspirin or paracetamol. You may also have some vaginal bleeding because the needle is passed through the vagina to collect the eggs.
You should not worry about either of these symptoms unless they seem excessive. It might be hard for you to decide what 'excessive' is. Basically, if it's worse than period pain, the blood flow is fairly constant or the symptoms don't go away within a couple of days, you should contact the clinic again.
