Egg donation - for donors |
You will be asked to contact the clinic on the first day of your period and will then have to go to the clinic for a check-up and to collect the first set of drugs about three weeks later.
You should have a period about a week to ten days after starting the down-regulation drugs, and you will then need to attend the clinic to start the second phase of treatment. After that, the length of the treatment will depend on how you respond to the drugs. Some women respond very quickly and some more slowly but the average is about 10 days. Collection takes place when a number of follicles have grown large enough for it to be possible to collect them, and this differs from woman to woman.
Usually, the second phase of treatment will last a week to ten days. You will then have an hCG injection and return 36 hours later for the collection procedure to take place.
The average treatment cycle lasts just over three weeks.
