My own thoughts
Many people with Disabilities have jobs, active social lives and are contributing members of society. Many, would like to have the opportunity to acquire the skills to be able to have a job,but because there is little or no governing force to break down the barriers which the passing of the ADA laws were supposed to accomplish, society does not benefit from the contributions people with disabilities might be able to give it. We can not help but ask the following questions......
1) When will the barriers be removed?
2) When will employers be more willing to hire the disabled?
3) When will merchants realize that we have to eat, cloth ourselves, buy gifts and therefore
spend money in their establishments and comply with the ADA guildlines?
4) When will public transportation, i.e. city buses with lifts for wheelchair/scooter users
become the reality that was promised the citizens about 11 years ago and which was
also mandated via the ADA laws and the intent behind them? The intent behind the
ADA laws was to allow the citizens of all ages to remain as independent and self-
sufficient as humanly possible for as long as possible.
Please, contact your government oficials to support and enforce the intent of the ADA Law. Society as a whole will benefit in every way.
