Compiled Information
Over the past 11 years, the Charles D. Brammer, Editor of Brammer Branches newsletter, has collected marriage, birth, and death records of descendants of Edmund Brammer and Mary Ann Lee. Records at courthouses and libraries in Lawrence County, Ohio, and adjoining Gallia County, Ohio, Cabell County, West Virginia, and Boyd County, Kentucky were reviewed and all the Brammer data found was compiled. This data has been compiled in table form. Please note, the Editor has added columns with data not found in the records. These are "Code" and "Brammer Line" or "Ancestors." Both of these columns represent the Editor's best effort to identify the Brammer ancestors of each individual in the marriage records. For "Code," see Descendants of Edmund Brammer (c.1767-1822) in Brammer Branches volume , page. The code can be used to see his/her specific Brammer line. For example, in the Lawrence County marriages, see Amos Brammer whose code is 5.1.4., then refer to the table on page 923 which shows he is the son of William, grandson of Jesse, and great grandson of Edmund. In some cases the code has an "x" which means the individual's specific birth order in his family has not been determined by the Editor. For example, in the Lawrence County marriages, see Adella Brammer whose code is 1.6.10.x., then refer to the table on page 923 which shows her father (1.6.10.) was Rosencrants but the Editor has not determined her birth order (x).
Also, "Brammer Line" gives the first name of each direct line Brammer ancestor back to "Edm" (Edmund) if applicable.
Special notes on the marriage tables:
1. Any names underlined or in parentheses have been added by the Editor. Example - see Bethaniah in the Lawrence County marriages. This person is believed to be Bethaniah Henry Brammer widow of Henry Brammer (1815-1848). Henry's code is 1.4. which shows he was the son of John Brammer and grandson of Edmund Brammer.
2. When recorded in the marriage records, the ages of the individuals getting married and their places of birth are included in the tables. In some records of Lawrence County, Ohio, and Boyd County, Kentucky, the exact date is given when the individual reached the age given in the records. For example, see Anna in the Lawrence County records - this shows she reached the age of 18 on 12 Dec 1908.
3. Some of the individuals in the marriage, birth and death records were not descendants of Edmund Brammer. For example, see Cornelia H. on the Cabell County records, p. 931 - she is a descendant of John Brammer of Franklin County, Virginia.
