Jesus Christ

Now in Bethlehem, there were shepherds who lived out in the fields who were watching their flock at night. Suddenly, the angel of the Lord appeared before them, and they were extremely afraid, for the glory of the Lord shone upon them.

Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger."

After a multitude of angels were seen by the shepherds in the heavens, the shepherds went to Bethlehem to see the marvelous thing which came to pass. And they arrived shortly thereafter and found Mary, her husband Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him." Then Herod sent them to Bethlehem saying, "Go search carefully for the young Child, and when you find Him, bring back word to me that I may come to worship Him also." So they departed and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, until it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with His mother Mary and fell down and worshiped Him. They presented Jesus with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh
When the wise men departed, an angel of the Lord told Joseph in a dream to take baby Jesus and His mother and flee to Egypt for King Herod sought to kill the young Child.

When Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream saying, "Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child's life are dead." So Joseph departed with his family, and they dwelt in the city of Nazareth

As a youth growing up in Nazareth, Jesus worked as a carpenter and helped out his father, Joseph

When Jesus was 12 years old, He and His parents went down to Jerusalem to attend the Feast of the Passover. When the celebration was over, they could not find Jesus. After 3 days of searching for Him, Jesus' parents found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers

And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon Peter and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then Jesus said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

Going on from there, Jesus saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John in the boat mending their nets with Zebedee their father. Jesus called them, and they immediately left the boat and their father, and they followed Jesus
Now when Jesus got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But Jesus was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing

But Jesus said to them, "Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith?" Then Jesus arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm

Now Jesus went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. And when Jesus came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his widowed mother. And a large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion for her and said to her, "Do not weep."
Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And Jesus said, "Young man, I say to you arise." So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And Jesus presented him to his mother

While Jesus was on the mountain, great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus' feet, and He healed them. So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. Nazareth

And the disciples said to Him, "We have only five loaves and two fish." Jesus said, "Bring them here to Me." Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

And Jesus entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house. Immediately, many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And Jesus preached the word to them. Then they came to Him, bringing Him a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven you

Then Jesus said to the paralytic, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house." Immediately, he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all glorifying God, so that all were amazed saying, "We never saw anything like this!"

Then two blind men came up to Jesus. And Jesus said to them, "Do yo believe that I am able to do this?" Then Bartimaeus and his friend said to Jesus, "Yes, Lord." Then Jesus touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith let it be to you." And their eyes were opened

And suddenly a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of Jesus' garment. For she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well." But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well that hour.
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Jesus saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

Jesus said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?"

So the lawyer answered and said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself."

And Jesus said to him, "You have answered correctly; do this and you shall live." But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

Then Jesus answered and said, "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down the road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, went over to where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarri, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you." So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?

And he said, "He who showed mercy on him."

Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise

Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Jesus, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for Lazarus has been dead four days."

Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?" Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that you have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by, I said this that they may believe that You sent Me."

Now when Jesus had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth!" And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Loose him, and let him go."

Jesus told his disciples that He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. Jesus also told them to go and preach, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." Also Jesus told them to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast out demons. Jesus told his disciples, "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves

So the disciples brought a donkey and a colt as Jesus had commanded them, and the disciples laid their clothes on them, and set Jesus on them. And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" And when Jesus had entered Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, "Who is this?" So the multitude said, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee
Jesus soon went up to the Mount of Olives to pray and talk to His disciples. While He was still speaking to His disciples, behold a multitude; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?" Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs? When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour; and the power of darkness." Having arrested Jesus, they brought Him into the high priest's house

Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him. And having blindfolded Him, they struck Jesus on the face and asked Him, saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ!"

Immediately, in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council; and they bound Jesus, led Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate. Then Pilate asked Jesus, "Are You the King of the Jews?"

Jesus answered and said to him, "It is as you say."

And the chief priests accused Jesus of many things, but He answered nothing. Then Pilate asked Jesus again, saying, "Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!"

But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled

Now at the feast he was accustomed to releasing one prisoner to them, whomever they requested. And there was one named Barabbas, who was chained with his fellow rebels; they had committed murder in the rebellion. Then the multitude, crying aloud, began to ask Pilate to do what he had always done for them. But Pilate answered them saying, "Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?" For he knew that the chief priests had handed Jesus over because of envy. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them. Pilate answered and said to them again, "What then do you want me to do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?"

So they cried out again, "Crucify Him!" Then Pilate said to them, "Why what evil has He done?" But they cried out all the more, "Crucify Him!" So Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him to be crucified

Then the soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him. And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before HIm and mocked Him, saying, "Hail King of the Jews!" Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Jesus away to be crucified

Now as they led Jesus away to Golgotha (the place of the skull), a certain man named Simon of Cyrene, who was coming from the country, and on him they laid the cross that he might bear it after Jesus. And a great multitude of people followed Jesus including his disciples and His mother Mary who mourned and lamented for Him.

Then the soldiers nailed the hands and feet of Jesus to the cross, and they divided His garments among them. Sitting down, they kept watch over Him there. And the soldiers put up over Jesus' head the accusation written against Him: THIS IS JESUS KING OF THE JEWS

Then one of the criminals who was hanged blasphemed Jesus saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us." But the other answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds; but his Man has done nothing wrong." Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise

Now it was about the sixth hour (noon),

and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit." Having said this, Jesus breathed His last

Now when evening had come, Joseph of Arimathea, who also became a disciple of Jesus, went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate allowed it. When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which was hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb and departed.

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men

But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. They ran into Jesus on the way, and they held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. That evening, Jesus stood in the presence of His disciples and said, "Peace be with you." When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side which was pierced with the sword. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord

But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No." And Jesus said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw their net in because of the multitude of fish

And when Jesus led his disciples out as far as Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed His disciples. Now it came to pass, while Jesus blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven, and Jesus sat at the right hand of God

As Jesus was taken into heaven; two angels said to His disciples, "This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

And Jesus' disciples worshiped Him, and they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and they were continually in the temple praising and blessing God.

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.

You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.
