COMPRESSING
JPEG (JPG) IMAGES
When we
find ourselves involved in groups where a
lot
of email is generated and when that email
contains
many images it is only good manners to
reduce the size
of the image in KB's, to save on huge
downloads for
the receiving party.
To compress
a .jpeg (.jpg) image
go to FILE
>>> SAVE AS >>>

This window
below will appear..
Name your file
Click the 'down' arrow to the right of
the 'Save as
type:' box
Click on 'JPEG - JFIF
Compliant.....'
THEN click
on the 'OPTIONS' tab

This window
will then open
Ensure the 'Encoding is set to STANDARD
Set the COMPRESSION
FACTOR to
somewhere between 25 and 50
Click 'OK'

These are
examples of the different Compression
factors on
the same Image.

From left
to right
Image 1 = 25% Compressed (10.3kb)
Image 2 + 50% Compressed (7.5kb)
Image 3 = 75% Compressed (5.5kb)
Note the
distortion the more the image is
compressed
