Gutson Borglum was the sculptor who designed and orchestrated the creation of Mt. Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The sixty-foot faces of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt together create the world's largest sculpture. Borglum's project lasted from 1927 to 1941, due to unpredictable weather and funding. When Borglum died in 1941, his son took the project over. |
