About Buddhist Society of Hilir Perak
1) Why PBHP is used for Buddhist Association of Hilir Perak?
PBHP is the Malaysian language (Bahasa Malaysia) acronym. It stands for Persatuan Buddhist Hilir Perak.
2) Do you have libraries there?
Yes, we have libraries in PBHP. It is mainly divided into three categories. First, the library for secondary schools. Second the library for Buddhist study reference, inclusive of cassette tapes, video tapes. And the last one is for general references.
3) What are the Opening Hours of the Association and the
Library ?

1) Do you open your Association all year round?
Not quite. Buddhist Association is open from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (for Monday to Saturday). On Sunday, it is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, on certain time of the year, the Association will be closed. For example, during the Chinese New Year, the Association will be closed for a few days.
2) Why two languages used in the Daily Activities?
The Majority of the devotees of the Buddhist Association are Chinese and they are either Mandarin-educated or English-educated or Bilingual. To cater for the needs of all, English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia are used. Dialects like Hokkien and Cantonese are also used.
3) Do you conduct Dhamma talks and retreats?
Yes, as a practising Buddhist center, we do organise Dhamma talks. Some speakers are monks and nuns while some are lay people. Some come from overseas while others are local Malaysians.
Some of the retreats are conducted by the speakers while some retreats are run by us.
1) Can I use the materials for publications?
The committee members of the Buddhist Association welcomes you to use the materials for free. It is much desirable if you can use them for Dhammaduta works.
2) Is it copyright-free?
Yes.
3) Can I contribute some of Dhamma Materials to the website?
Yes and no. Yes in a sense, we welcome you to contribute some Dhamma materials to the website. However you cannot send directly to the server run by Fortunecity. We'd appreciate it if you send your contributions to the Association address or email to the committee members or the WebMaster.
1) I wish to become a member of the Buddhist Association. Can I?
Any Malaysian (non-Muslim) above 18 can apply to do so through an Application Form available at the Association. For any further information, you can contact any Committee Member.
1) I saw there is someone in charge of Buddhist marriage. Can I register on-line?
No. We have been appointed an Assistant Registrar of Marriages. Registration can be done every Monday from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm. For any further information, contact our Committee Member, Bro. Chan Boon Tee.
2) You keep mentioning contact or email the committee members. I notice only two persons have email addresses. How am I going to email to the others?
You can choose to email to the President or Vice President with the attention to whom the person you wish to contact with.
3) I wish to contribute some donation to the Buddhist Association but I do not know how.
Please seek clarification from the President or the Vice
President.
