            MORE COMMUNITY INFORMATION

Being so far from other communities, AGVFD must provide many different services.  We not only fight fires; structural, brush, vehicle, trash, etc; but we also respond to motor vehicle accidents, rescue situations including swift water rescue during the "monsoon" season, public assists, and mutual aid.  We have also responded to rope rescue and hazardous materials situations.  Whatever the call involves, we must respond, stabilize the situation, and then make a decision about what other agencies should be notified.  We work together with the Pima County Sheriff's Department, Ajo Ambulance, Tohono O'odham Nation Police and Fire Departments, Arizona Department of Public Safety, National Park Service (Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument), and US Border Patrol and Customs.
