Welcome to the Lyrical Bardic Fire. Here you will find the
lyrics to many
songs along with the MIDI sound files to go with some of them.
Just click on
the title of the song to view the lyrics and MIDI files.
Not all the songs listed here are period (written between 600
and 1600 AD).
Many of the songs listed are favorites among members of the Kingdom
of
Ansteorra. It is important that the bards in the Society for Creative
Anachronism also include in their music songs written in period
and written
in a period style. Songs that are period are noted.
The problem with finding songs that are period is that much
of the folk
music was not written down until 1600 and 1700. As this page grows,
documentation will be added for those pieces that are period.
For now they
are annotated as "Period" after the author of the piece.
I hope that you enjoy the selection. If you have pieces you
would like to
add, send them to Lady Simone At bardicfire@fcmail.com
The music here is separated into the following categories:
Irish, SCAdian Originals, Scottish, English, and Folk,
