![]() They sat around the little table that Brody had put in for Max and Liz to use; once more they were going over each step of the plan. "Max, I don't know about this. It doesn't make too much sense. Are you sure you want me to do this part?”
“Jim, we have to follow Liz's vision, and this is what we need you to do. I trust you.”
“I've never done this before, wonder if I mess up!” Jim looked at Liz, she was putting her life and her daughter's life in his hands and it scared the hell out of him.
Liz comes up behind him, reaching to pick up his empty cup, she accidentally bumps his back with her stomach. Suddenly the baby gives him a big kick. “See, even she says it will be alright. I've never done this before either, and I keep wondering if I'll mess up too.” She gives him a quick kiss on the cheek. “Do you have any of your stuff in your car? I guess I should have let Brody get that kit, just in case.”
“I have something in the car. I'll go get it.” As he heads out the door he looks back at the group that could possibly be defending the world…and they would be lead by a baby, a baby they wanted him to deliver.
Amanda got up and headed to where the weapons were stored. Michael and Isabel followed her. Once she opened it, she handed Michael his weapon. He took it and started to practice his moves, Amanda watched. “We'll go over a few things in a minute. You'll need to refresh your memories. You must be as accurate as you were in your past life…we all will be depending on you. Isabel, you know how this works. Just a few drops of the poison will be enough to take care of him.”
Isabel picked up the holster, taking out the knife, she rolled it over and over in her hand. “Pretty Poison”, that's what he called it when he gave it to me. I just can't remember why.”
“When who gave it to you Iz?” Max was worried about her, she would have the toughest job of them all. Everything hinges on her not caving in to him.
“Kivar. He wanted me to use it to protect myself when we would sneak out and meet. There was something unusual about it…I only wish I could remember.” Looking at Amanda she saw in her face that she knew the secret of it. “You know don't you? Liz, can she tell me?”
“I don't know. Amanda, will it make a difference to her?” Liz rubbed her back, this backache has been going on for almost an hour.
“It must mean that she doesn't remember for a reason…Isabel, take some time, if you're meant to remember, you will. Ready Michael?” As she looks at him, she sees that he hadn't forgotten a move. “Good memory.”
“It's my turn to take it back. This time things will be different.” He flings the weapon high into the room, it almost touches the ceiling. When it comes down spinning he catches it with his eyes closed.
“Michael, I didn't think you had that in you. I'm impressed.” Amanda looks around the room, her eyes stop on Liz. She is leaning against the wall, her fists are in a ball. “Guys, I think its showtime!”
Max runs over to her, “Liz, is it…you know.” He was starting to panic, not about what would soon happen with Kivar, but what soon happen with Liz.
She reaches over and grabs his hand. “That's good, if it hurts, just squeeze.” Suddenly his face is twisted in pain. “Ah Liz…let go a little bit, please. Liz?”
She shakes her head 'no' “I want you to enjoy the wonders of natural childbirth right along with me! Seeeee, that's what it feels like.” She squeezes his hand again. His fingers start to turn white from the lack of circulation. Looking at the others for help, they just stare at him. “Thanks for the help guys.”
It was time to get moving. They open the loveseat to reveal a sofa bed, Jim opens his OB kit and takes out the sheet, laying it on the bed. “Liz, do you want to lie down?” Looking her way, she shakes her head 'no'. “Okay then. Max, do you know if you have any alcohol? I have some in the kit, but I don't know if I'll have enough. Liz, where are you going?” She was heading to the bathroom.
“I want to change; I don't want to ruin the new outfit…OWWW!” Looking at her watch, her eyes get wide. “That was quick, it's only been three minutes!” Isabel goes over to her, Liz points to a suitcase under the bed. Isabel opens it up, seeing her nightgown, she grabs it, and then she takes out some of the baby things. Helping Liz into the bathroom, she closes the door.
“Are you really okay?” Liz shakes her head no. “What do you think is wrong?”
“I changed my mind, I'm not ready for this. I want to go back on the road…” Gripping the edge of the sink, she gets a flash. “He's here! Was everything done?” Isabel runs their checklist over in her mind. “Yes, everyone got to their positions a little bit ago.” She looks at Liz, she could read the question in her mind. “I'll be fine. I can do this…there is no way he will ever control me again.” She gives Liz a hug. “Are you ready?” Liz is biting her lip, then she nods her head at Isabel.
“Let's do it!”
Walking into the room, she sees Kivar standing near the makeshift delivery room. “Just in time I see. Do we know what we're having?”
Max reaches over and helps Liz onto the bed. Leaning in, he whispers into her ear. “Are you ready?”
Liz nods 'yes' then she whispers back “Just as long as she is.”
“If you don't mind, could you stand somewhere else? It's bad enough she has to go through this here, but she doesn't need you so close.” Max wanted to blast him across the room, but he knew he couldn't, but he would get his when the time was right.
“Always the hero, ah Zan…sorry Max. How long do you think this will take, I want to get home as soon as possible.” He looked at his watch.
“You can leave anytime, it would be alright with us.”
“Didn't they teach you any manners here? That was rather rude.”
“Rude is intruding in on someone's life, then trying to take it over.” Liz squeezes his hand again, only this time it wasn't from pain.
Kivar turns to look behind him at the sound of someone approaching. “Well, who do we have here? Did you change your mind about us?” He starts to rub her arm. Inside Isabel in flinching, the touch of his hand on her skin felt like someone was scrapping her with sandpaper.
“I'm here for Liz, now. Then maybe we can talk later…” She reaches up and runs her hand down the front of his shirt. Looking up at him, she sees that he is looking at her hair. “Did you like it better the other way?” She takes her hand and runs it over her hair, changing it back to the shorter brown version she had when she married Jesse.
Kivar looks at her “Better. What do you propose that we do with that husband of yours?”
“I don't want to discuss Jesse right now…we'll do that later.” She runs her hand down his face, giving him a look that sent chills down his spine. Turning, she looks at him in the eye. “Lover, I think you're right…I do want that power…I want to go home with you. We'll take that baby and we will raise her to rule it all!” With her left hand, she draws his face to her mouth, but with her right hand she reaches in her boot, pulling the knife out of its holster. Taking it she plunges it deep into Kivar, she pushes up into his lungs. When she was satisfied that it was deep enough, she pushes the button to release all of the poison into his body. He looks at her like he couldn't believe she did that. “What did you do?” She just smiles as she sees the horror on his face. “I just kept my promise to you, Lover. I told you if you ever showed your face around here again I'd kill you myself. Oh, I forgot.” She grabs his chin and holds his face so that they are eye level and he can see her hatred for him. “This is for Alex.” She digs the knife in deeper, twisting it back and forth while she drained out any of the remaining poison. “You created the monster that killed him, so you should pay the price. If you would have lived a thousand lives for a thousand years in each life, you would have not been good enough to stand in his shadow.” She feels his body fall to the floor. Looking down, she doesn't see any blood. Amanda comes out of the secret room, seeing Isabel studying the body she asks her “Do you remember now why it was called pretty poison?”
“Yes, no matter how many times a person was stabbed, the poison healed the cuts. It kept the poison inside to cause the suffering to go on for days…you did well, Lover "
Suddenly they hear a baby's cry.
Max is sitting next to Liz with the baby on her chest, they are rubbing her back. “She's beautiful Liz, but I wouldn't have expected anything else with you as her mother.” He hands Max a blanket to wrap her up in. “Make sure she stays warm” Just then the door is kicked open by Kivar's 'men' One is headed for the baby and one is headed for Liz. Max looks down at his daughter, and what he saw shocked him, he never expected this, even with Liz's vision. On that beautiful baby face, he saw her mother's eyes, not her regular eyes, but the eyes of the warrior. Just as the first man reached for Liz, a green force field comes from the baby surrounding the four of them. Kivar's men were on the verge of breaking through just as Michael comes into the room, swinging his weapon. In the next second, he sends it flying towards the men catching them in the neck, sending their electronic heads to the ground. Once the baby felt safe, the force field was gone. Liz and Max look down at her, she now had her regular eyes back, and a smile on her face. “I don't think that smile was from gas…do you?”
Michael sets off the signal, a flashing green light over the door. Brody now knows that it's all clear. Skylar, Maria and Kyle come up the stairs looking into see if there was anything left.
“Let me see that sweet babbbby!” Maria was the first one in line. “Oh Liz, she's gorgeous!” She looks up at Michael. “Don't get any ideas Maria!”
“Not me, I'm just happy to be the aunt.”
Skylar looks at Kivar. “I see the pretty poison did its job again. Do you want me to take him back? I'm sure the people on Antar will be happy to get him. I can take him back in that little two-seater that's stored up there.” He points to the other secret room. “Oh, but if I do that, Amanda won't have a way back.”
Kyle comes up to stand beside her. “Well, if she wants to stay, I think I can make arrangements for her. “ He takes her hand and gives her a smile.
“You know Skylar, I think I'm ready to settle down for a while.” She turns to look at Kyle, she is reading a lot more than sadness in his eyes now. “I want to see what it's like to have a family…if that's okay with everyone else.”
September 23rd, I'm Liz Evans and five days ago I became a mother. How funny it is to write these words and how ironic, no, not ironic, how perfect, that it would happen when it did. Was it destiny that I happened to bring a life into the world on the same day Max gave me back mine? All I know is that I wake up each day in awe of my beautiful daughter. We named her Destiny Miranda…Destiny to show the world that we are living the destiny that was planned for us all those years ago and Miranda for the woman that made it possible. Our mothers are totally amazed that she never cries…what they don't understand is she is in constant communication with us. She can do little mind tricks like letting us know when she's hungry and when she needs changing. I hope she saves the big powers until we are all better equipped to handle them. She seems to have stopped growing at her fast rate…I think it was for our own good that she was in such a hurry to arrive. She is the love of our lives.
Amanda has moved in with the Valenti's and when she can, she tries to work out a way to remove the implant in Kyle's grandfather. Before Skylar took Kivar back to Antar, he set up a signal with Max and Michael so that they would know if he had a message for them. Then they use the chair to travel to Antar to get any information that he might have found on removing the implant. Unfortunately, there hasn't been too much, but it's only been five days, so we'll be patient and hope that some day we'll find a way.
Jim, Max and Michael finally let Hanson in. In all the confusion of getting ready to fight Kivar, they never got around to it. They took Hanson to Jim's house and told him…Max said that they had to use smelling salts when they told him…
Well, that's the beginning of our return to Roswell. Will we have to tackle our enemies again? I don't know. But I do know that we are probably still on the FBI's list, so we never know when they'll be coming for us. The person that said you couldn't go home again, didn't know what it's like to return home to Roswell…
