In order to boost responses to the survey, I'm offering a banner for your website as incentive.
November 21 I'll randomly choose a website from those entered, and make a banner for them. (I'm only going to make one banner so please don't ask me to make one for you if you didn't win.)
If you've already filled out the survey and want to be entered in the drawing, e-mail me your website. Incomplete surveys won't be accepted. And you must have a website to get the banner.
Added a poll to the site. Please answer it! You're feed back on this is important to me. (Note: you can only vote once a week.)
Added a few songs (On the Banks of the Wabash, Sweet Rosie O'Grady, Love's Old Sweet Song, My Wild Irish Rose, When You Were Sweet Sixteen), and added more verses to two songs (My Sweetheart's the Man in the Moon, And the Band Played On). I only have 14 more days of college and will have the time to add more newspaper articles. Will also possibly adding midi files of many of the songs then.
Yes, I know this isn't a real update, just a piece of shameless self-promotion. But hey, I can do that, I'm the one in charge here.
A new lodging house in the newsie universe governed by The Newsgirls Union (different from the webring) is opening: Fort Lee/Palisades Home for Girls and Boys. Check it out. Now. That's an order. If you're looking for something a little bit different to have stories set in, you might want to join. *hint hint*
Added a page with the basic rules of poker to the "learn to be a newsie" page, since it was discovered that very few of the dear Harlem girls know how to play the game correctly. *wink*
Won another award, this one from The Newsies Banner.
There are close to two dozen new songs on the songs page. (Found in Mama Nuss's Restaurant.) Merry Christmas!!!
Added four more songs to the song page (Glow Worm, Little Annie Rooney, Reuben and Rachel, and You Tell Me Your Dream), and added verses to the lyrics of Ta-ra-raboom-de-ay.
There are now lyrics of songs from the turn-of-the-century up in Mama Nuss's Restaurant. Enjoy!
Joined a brand new web ring.
Added two new Daily-Tribune articles, one for July 28, and one for July 30.
Joined a new web ring, The New York Ring.
Added three new links to the links page.
Happy Halloween!
Added a new newspaper article from July 26, "Newsies" Standing Fast," to the articles page.
Added a page on how to quote this site to the research area. Plus I joined the RingMasters web ring.
Jay Gambol and I have decided to share newspaper articles, so now all of the New York Times articles link to his site, and the New York Daily-Tribune articles on his site will link here.
We won another award, this one from Storm DeSario at The Brooklyn Bridge Bar. There's even a short article about the Park in issue 2 of The Banner on her site. Thanks, Storm!
Updated a link (address change), and added a few on the links page.
I added several more Tribune articles to the newspaper stories section.
I started a new web ring! If you're interested in it, either click on the union ribbon on the main page, or go here: http://www.fortunecity.com/meltingpot/offord/192/union.
I added two more strike articles from The New-York Daily Tribune. Enjoy! :-) Oh, and you can "look around" now, too.
I fiddled with the restaurant names; it had just gotten to the point where I was bored with them. There would be more updates, but I just haven't had time to get around to them since I've been working so much this summer. Maybe after school starts again...
There are two new articles about the strike, both from the "New-York Daily Tribune," up on the newspaper account page. And there's a new link on the links page.
No new updates, really, but I have copies of The New-York Daily Tribune's articles covering the strike that will be gradually posted when I have the chance. Also, I have a few more links I would like to add. And one quick little brag: I've been published in the July edition of Of Ages Past! (It's the first story on the short story page).
Won another award! Thanks Jinx and Strikes. *smile*
Added the links page. There aren't many there, so if you have a link that you are dying for me to add, E-mail it to me at NewspaperAnnie@yahoo.com. I'm always on the look out for good links to add!
I have decided to answer some of the questions asked in the guestbook on the note.html. They should be up soon!
Added a page on an older lodging house written about in a Horatio Alger novel. It's a link on the lodging house page.
Added the price lists(shopping.html), a page with research helps (research.html), the note from me (note.html), this page, and am currently rebuilding some of the other missing pages.
