1. What is NGE?
NGE stands for Neon Genesis Evangelion wich is the name of one of
the most influential anime series in the last decade. This series take place
in year 2015 at New Tokyo #3 City. In year 2000, a meteor crashed onto
Antarctica and caused a disastrous impact on Earth as all the ice on
Antarctica was melted. (This is described as the second impact in the story.) World population was dropped by a half since then. 15 years later, an enormous, unknown creature called Sachiel (also called Angel) has reappeared on Earth. While Sachiel is making its way towards the New Tokyo #3 City, the only hope for human being now is the secret
weapon invented by Nerv headquarter, and that is EVANGELION. However,
the only suitable drivers for those machines are just a number of
14-year-old kids...
What excactly is Evangelion?
Evangelion is the most advanced weapon ever created by humankind. They are
giant robots half machine and half organic. The creation of them is mistery,
even for some of the scientists inside NERV.
All three Eva(s) are powered by a cable line linked to their backs.
When the plug is disconnected, each Eva can use its internal power system
to activate for only five more minutes!!! If you saw the anime, you would
know the count down clock inside the Eva. When they exceed the limit, they
just stall. Furthermore, as mensioned earlier, the drivers for the Eva are
three 14-year-old kids, for each has a unquie characteristics but unknown past.
They control these Eva by means of their mental power. First, they position
themselves inside a plug apparatus which is then put into the Eva from
its back. Then, the driver tanks are filled up with LCL liquid which helps
to synchronize their brain waves towards the Eva. Finally, their nervous
system will be directly linked to the Eva, that indeed what the Eva do
would result in a direct impact on the drivers' minds and their bodies.
2. What is NERV?
Nerv is a military and research organization created by the UN to protect
mankind from the angel attaks. The headquarters of this organization are
situated underneath Tokio 3.
3. Who is Asuka?
Sohryu Asuka Langley is also known as the second children. She is half german,
and half japanese. She is the pilot of the EVA unit 02. She is a very smart
girl who has already graduated from college.She is a bomb of energy and
courage. She enjoys driving Eva since she wants people to recognize her talent.
She likes winning and that's why she always has a verbal fight with Shinji.
4. Who is Rei?
Rei Ayanami is also known as the first children. She is the pilot of EVA unit 00.
She is usually quiet, seldomly speaks and she allways do what she is asked to.
Her past is a huge mystery. She seems to have no feeling inside her heart.
However, she is the most capable driver in the team
5. Who is Misato?
Cpt. Misato Katsuragi is the NERV's chief of operations.She is attractive,
cheerful, fun and optimistic eventhough she is 29 years old.
She is a tough girl who survived the Second Impact. She was saved by her
father who gave up his own life in this incident. And is ready to ask for
payback to the angels. She loves to drink Old Parr Whisky and her favorite breakfast is a
bottle of beer.
5. Who is Shinji?
Shinji Iraki is the third children and also the main actor in the story.
He is the son of Gendo Ikari, the commander of Nerv.
His father left him since early childhood.
When Shinji is 14, he is brought back to Nerv to drive the EVA unit 01.
Because of his loniness in early age, Shinji is shy and inner.
He doesn't have a good relationship with his father and therefore he has
to stay with Misato, his guardian. Shinji doesn't enjoy his life and
see driving the Eva as a painfull experience.
