Background
----------------
Three years to the day after German's 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union,
the Red Army launched a massive offensive in Byelorussia against the Army
Group Centre. Codenamed "Operation Bragration", this campaign climaxed
five weeks later with the Red Army at the gates of Warsaw. In this operation
17 Wehrmacht division were utterly destroyed and over 50 other German divisions
were shattered.
Around 12th July the Soviet Armies began the Lvov-Sandomierz offensive
against the Army Group North Ukraine. This offensive secured a significant
bridgehead at Magnuszew on 27th July.
