VERSION 1.0
Background
----------------
December 8 1941, the Japanese unleashed their plans to form the East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere by attacking Pearl Harbour, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaya, and other SE Asian areas such as Lae and Rabul. With Malaya producing the vast majority of the worlds rubber and tin, it was a very appealing target for the Japanese war effort. In addition, control of Malaya would allow an attack on Singapore, the "Gibraltar of the East", according to the British. In addition to being a valuable port for transfer of their newly acquired resources, the capture of Singapore would be a severe blow to Allied prestige in the Pacific, and to the British presence in general.
The attack begins with the Japanese landings at Singora and Patani
in Northern Malaysia.

Conditions
------------------------
This scenario is designed to be played from the Axis side, or as a PBEM game. Current prestige and experience settings are set as '0', but players with suggestions/settings to improve the scenario can submit them to the Tortoise Page, c/o Paul Bickford: paulsbic@mb.sympatico.ca
AXIS:
As the Japanese, you must fight your way down the lone road on
the Western side of the island to reach your goal of occupying Jahore Baharu
on the southern tip of the Malay peninsula. Once Jahore Baharu has been
captured, the causeway to the island fortress of Singapore will be open
for an attack on Singapore itself. Time is limited, and weather may turn
wet before the attack is over. You have an overwhelming advantage in the
air, as the Japanese Zero's are superior to anything the
Commonwealth Forces can field against you. Use this to your advantage.
ALLIES:
You are outnumbered and outclassed, with the bulk of your defensive
forces being untrained Anglo/Indian troops with little experience. With
no armoured support to counter the Japanese tanks,
and little power in the air, your position seems hopeless. Try and
concentrate your defensive forces at one or two of the key defensive positions
offered by the terrain and dig in! It is a long road to Jahore Baharu,
so slowing the Japanese advance sufficiently will allow defenses to be
strengthened at Singapore, perhaps allowing them to hold.
Remarcks:
-The scenario is full customized in PG version...it has been done also an AG adaptation of the scenario but we recommend strongly the PG version
-Players may note the starting month for the scenario is "6", implying
the scenario takes place in June. This modification was made to eliminate
"snow" falling in Malaysia in December, while trying to
retain the effect of the seasonal wet weather.
