Background
----------------
After the German victory over France Hitler tried
to involve Spain in the War. His main reason
was the necessity of taking Gibraltar which was a key position in the
Mediterranean Sea Control.
In this way and before the historical Hendaya meeting (23 october 1940) Hitler felt betrayed by Franco who didn´t want to enter in the war after the recent Spanish Civil War. He decided to invade Spain with Italian help in order to take Gibraltar and thereby cause major problems for England.
England decided (in this hypothetical plot) that the Spainish invasion diminished the risk of a German invasion of England so decided to help Spain as and also to maintain the control of the Mediterranean.
