About Us
came to be because I bought a digital camera.
"What?", you're probably asking yourself.
The camera came bundled with these other programs one of which was "Trellix Web". I took a quick look at it and felt like I was in way over my head, so it got placed on a back burner. Eventually, I built my first page on MSN Communities, and then another at "Folksites" through "Cosmiverse". "Trellix Web" had simmered on the back burner long enough and it was time to stir the pot !
The first project for it was a page for my brothers Home Improvement business. I liked that so much, I decided to try it out for myself. So, I pasted the picture you see on the home page, and
was born.
The original purpose was to share with people all the free things available to them over the Internet. I couldn't understand why people would pay good money for a provider when there were an overabundance of free Internet Providers available, and some of them were pretty darn good - especially for the price ! At the peak of the boom two years ago, I was a member of at least ten different ISP's and was still searching for more.
Of course, things have changed quite dramatically since then.
A secondary purpose for
was to showcase some of my photography, and to keep people abreast of events around my town. It has been my pleasure to be able to provide photos that have been selected as semi-finalists in the International Open Amateur Photography Contest !!! Four so far !
While "A Beginners Guide To The Web", is no longer a main priority for
, it still provides invaluable tips and links and ideas that even a non-beginner could find useful. What started as a four page site, now boasts fifteen pages.
Enjoy your visit here. Keep in mind when going to "AcmeCo" and "Memorandum" that these sections are basically photo albums, and as such, will take a little longer than most pages to load. If you are a N.Y. Met fan, then you shouldn't mind the time it takes to load the graphic of the 2000 N.L. Championship Flag being raised ! Right-click and save it. It's there to share.

Charlie
What's New
UPDATED MAY 18, 2002 Version 6 of Charlie's Web is dedicated to the memory of
William Derosia Sr.
I've been somewhat lax about updating this page the past few weeks; most of the changes have been very minor, and I have been a little short in the time department. Perhaps the biggest change at this time is the name of this page. In case you missed it, it's now the "About US" page.
Getting these pages published on the Internet is the easy part. If I had to do this all from scratch the way it was done, say seven years ago, there would probably be no "Charlie's Web". As it is now, maintaining these pages is more work than I could have imagined.
The hard part is having your site recognized by a search engine. Go ahead and type "Charlies+Web" into a search engine (leave out the quotation marks) and see if you find a reference back here. If I had learned Web Design the traditional way, I might have known the tricks of the trade. So for awhile, I'll be learning some of these tricks. For the time being these pages are what they are. They have their flaws, and they are hosted for free. Some of them might take awhile to load on your computer, but I believe for the most part, it is worth the wait.
In the meanwhile, I will continue to tweak and tinker to improve these flaws, and I will strive to bring better content here. It is my hope one day for these pages to be self-sufficient and to have their own domain name.
UPDATED APR. 13, 2002
There are a lot of changes this time around and I'm not done yet. Ill try to go in order.
A site map is in place, available from the home page. It's the only content (so far) to be added to the Links page.
The Mind-It update service (on My Two Cents!) is now a premium service and has been removed. To receive update reminders, e-mail us with the request, and we'll do our best. Meanwhile a search is on for a replacement.
AcmeCo has a new look. The poll remains the same.
Memorandum has 4 new photos; Tower of Light has 10 new photos in two new sections.
Downloads has nothing new but is sorely in need of an update. Content has been added to Archives Home and a new page has been added to this chain to accommodate AcmeCo: Previous Edition (which speaks for itself !).
UPDATED MAR. 17, 2002 Happy St. Patrick's Day
All Bravenet Services have been restored, and have been for several days. Three more photos have been added to the "Memorandum" page into a new section titled
"Tower Of Light Memorial". Archives have been moved from the "Downloads" page to it's own page titled "Archives Home". Another new page has also been added, although there is no real content on it as of this time. This page is called "Links", and will feature all of
web links in one place.
Again, we try to welcome Cassie's class. For reasons unknown, they did not make it here last time. Please feel free to offer feedback by using the any of the e-mail links on the site. Baseball fans can take the poll on the "AcmeCo" page, and
fans can use the "Recommend It" button at the bottom of the left column of this page. Not there! Your other left.
UPDATED MAR. 3, 2002 The new version of AcmeCo is in place on Charlie's Web, complete with a new feature - an online poll! A new question will appear in the poll approximately once a month.
UPDATED FEB. 23, 2002 There is now two ways to send an e-card to someone on the internet through
.
CoffeCup Software is responsible for the original Animated .Gif images seen on
.
Including this one !!!
As with any effort, there usually exists a cast of supporting characters. On this page I will list the contributions made by other people, and where possible, I will provide a copy of the program or files that help make what you see possible, or at least provide a link to it.
First of all, many of the animations are provided by Trellix Web, and Trellix Cafe. Certain fonts have been provided by third-party individuals as freeware.
The original title font I used for
was something called "Creepy" Unfortunately it has disappeared from my computer and two hours of searching my com and the web turned up nothing. So, I went in search of a replacement, eventually choosing the one you see here now, called "Rocky". Click the link below to visit Astigmatic One Eye Fonts creators of this and many other Freeware, Shareware, and Purchasable Fonts.
However, I found this font by choosing one of the results from YahooTM Search. Click on the following link to go to fontsnthings.com for all your wallpaper, theme and font needs.
Or go to the download page to download any of the files
has available for distribution.
