As part of the new security at Shea Stadium, all fans were subjected to this "screening" process which included a pass of the metal detector wand as seen here in this photo, and also a "pat-down".
Bottles of any kind, backpacks and even cameras were not allowed into the stadium !!

As such, it is now almost impossible to get a shot like this at a ball game these days!
Here is Mike Piazza, Opening Day last year swinging and missing on a pitch in the first inning. He would later hit a home run in the Mets victory. Can you imagine what it would have been like when Mark Mcguire broke the then home run record and there were no flashbulbs going off?

This Month's Oldie
The N.Y. Mets celebrate their
40th Anniversary this year.
Unfortunately, although I love my Mets, I will no longer be attending any games (unless I happen upon free tickets) until further notice.
I can understand and welcome increased security at an airport or important Government Facilities, but not at a ballpark, at least not to the extent at which these measures were carried out @ Shea on Opening Day.
