About Us
The Laflin Borough Police Department provides 24 hour-a-day coverage to the Boroughs of Laflin and Yatesville. We cover about 3 square mile with a population of about 2300.  The Pittston Area High School is in our coverage area, as well as part of State Route 315 and Interstate 81.

The officers are well trained in several areas including, criminal investigation, crime scene processing, crime prevention, accident investigation, computer crimes and one officer is a certified Motor Carrier Safety Enforcement Officer.  The officers complete the state mandated inservice each year, as well as many non-required training courses.

The Department records are completely automated. In 1996 the Department was awarded a COPS More grant and used the money to purchase hardware and software to make the system more efficient.

The Borough has been extremely generous in allowing the Department to maintain its high level of training and  modern technology, which has made our Department a leader in the area.

The most recent addition to the Department is a Datamaster BAC breath testing device.  This $7,000.00 piece of equipment was purchased through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and will allow the Department to conduct evidentiary breath testing at the Borough headquarters.  This will dramatically reduce the time spent "out-of-town" during a Driving under the Influence arrest.  Currently the Department has two officers licensed as breath test operators, and are planning to certify two more.
