HASEGAWA 1:48 HURRICANE MK.IIC
'INBOX Review'

It should come as no surprise that this kit forms in part a number of Hasegawa 1/48 Hurricane molds, which is evident by the sheer breakdown of the components, in that all the areas where the differences in the various versions are obviously separate pieces in this (and all the other) Hurricane kits.

Inside the box are the five lovely looking Hurricane sprues in light grey colour and engraved surface detail.  Scribing is superbly done and the panels all look realistic and fully replicated.  The fabric areas look overdone but still capture the feel of the Hurricane in my opinion, although I've heard others complain.

The cockpit is adequately catered for with separate frame for sidewall panels and a decent looking interior.  The main instrument panel includes finely raised detail and looks well done compared to some cockpit shots I have (although these are not IIc versions).  There is no real floor to speak of for this kit with the rudder pedals pushed forward and foot boards underneath, showing into the bottom of the fuselage.  Small boxes are provided for the sidewalls while the seat and control column are also provided - the former a typical Hasegawa clump of thickish plastic.

The breakdown of the kit as pointed above is done in such a way that many versions can be produced from the same basic mold.  The fuselage is split behind the canopy (for different nose versions) and the chin is separate as to allow for the addition of other filters, eg: Volks desert filter.  A small plug placed on the wing leading edges provide notation that there are multiple armament versions from this mold also, while 20mm cannons are provided for in this kit, including different size barrel lengths.

Overall this is probably the best Hurricane IIc offering scale and recommended on this basis.
