Kit:  MPM 1/48 L-39ZO Albatros

Recieved my L-39 this morning from Czech Republic - it's now official, I have more L-39's than the Russian and Czech Air forces (must get around to building some....!)

Right the review:-

The kit contains 68 parts moulded in mid-grey plastic with engraved panel detail that (he says looking at drawings and photos) do not appear to be overdone. There are 2 vac-formed canopies included as well as 5 resin parts. The quality of the molding is good - not as very good as Hasegawa, but pretty damn close. Hardly any flash at all, just a spec on a small intricate piece.

The 2-seat cockpit is assembled with approx. 34 parts all relevant parts containing panel detail etc. The ejector seats are made up of 7 pieces including resin "headrest". No decals are provided for the cockpit, but relevant colour details etc are given.

The parts to the aircraft are arranged similar to all other L-39 kits - 2 piece vertical split fuselage including tail, 1 piece underwing with 2 upper surfaces and a 4 piece tail plane. Detail on the undercarriage is also good.  No weapons supplied but you get 2 2-piece fuel tanks

Markings supplied for 4 a/c: 
2 x Libyan Air Force. One in Czech delivery markings the other in Libyan.
1 x Syrian Air Force. Again in Czech delivery markings.
1 x East German Air Force.

There appears to have been a problem with the original printing of the decals, but there are 2 small sheets coeerceting the errors.......

All in all a welcome kit to the collection. I also received a note saying that the L-39ZA, L-39C and L-159 will be available early next year  :o)

Does this mean I'd better finish off my L-39 walk-around for my website?
