ACADEMY 1:72 P-47D
"RAZORBACK"

Recent purchase of Academy P47 D Razorback kit. Overall seems very to scale. Detail is on par with many 1/48 scale kits. Accuracy for 1/72nd scale is excellent.
Kit contains decals for a 15th AF and 9th AF P47. Decals seem excellent. Have really enjoyed quality in other Academy kits in 1/72. I usually prefer Qtr inch because of the detail. Many 1/72 kits leave a lot to be desired. At $9.00 this kit is affordable. I usually don't build Hasegawa because of them being over priced.
Instructions are very straight forward, but with kits this simple I use instructions more for decal placement, than anything else. Kit has 3 trees, no flash or trimming evidently needed. For the die hard enthusiast, kit comes with both style props used on P 47s, Hamilton Standard and Curtis Electric. Interior well done for 1/72, as are wheel wells, engine, and wheels. Detail excellent.
Kit comes with good selection of weapons stores. Canopy on box art seemed too large for a/c but canopy in kit is more to scale and nice and clear, not being overly thick on canopy frame detail.
If you are a person like me who likes to get a sheet of AeroMaster decals and then assembly line 4 to 6 of the same a/c at one time, this kit is great. I look forward to a bubble top P 47D. With the use of this bird during WW2 in all fronts, and several airforces, the theme potential is immense. For someone who favours the P 47 over the Mustang (aren't we in the minority?) and does not have a lot of shelf space to have all the kits he desires, this will give 48th scale quality, in a 72nd scale package.
