HASEGAWA 1:72
AIRCRAFT WEAPONS V (US MISSILES & LAUNCHERS)
'INBOX Review'

Reviewer: John Lacey (rec.models.scale)
As this is another weapons set, I will deviate from the usual review style.
The kit itself consists of three identical sprues, each sprue contains the following items:
1 x AGM-84E SLAM
1 x AGM-119A Penguin 3
1 x AN/APX-95 TACTS Pod
1 x Launch Rail for AGM-119A
1 x LAU-129A/A F-16 Wing Tip Launch Rail
1 x LAU-129A/A F-16 Under Wing Launch Rail
2 x LAU-129A/A F-15 Pylon Launch Rail
2 x AIM-9M Sidewinder
2 x AIM-7M Sparrow
2 x AIM-120B AMRAAM
2 x CBU-87/B Cluster Bomb
All of the above, bar the AIM-120 and APX-95 are multi piece items with only the CBU-87/B and AGM-119A having split main bodies, whereas the others have one piece bodies with some control fins as separate items.
In addition to these, there are three identical decal sheets with stencilling for all weapons.
The instruction sheet is typical Hasegawa with a bi-lingual ‘blurb’ having nothing to do with the weapons themselves (histories appear later). This seems to try and justify the kit’s existence and Hasegawa’s preoccupation with not having any ordnance in their kits. This is followed by a loadout sheet for the F-16C, a construction sheet page, a table with the appropriate carrier aircraft listed, a parts map and a painting and decaling guide. Within the painting guide, each weapon is given a short history and plays a little to the ‘hometeam’ with references made to current or predicted applications within the JSDF (Japanese Self Defence Force).
Curiously, the sheet only briefly mentions the AGM-119’s helo deployment in its AGM-119B Mod 7 version. As such references will be required to deduce what, if any, modifications are needed if the weapon is to be used with a helicopter. (My references suggest the AGM-119B has folding wings and is a shorter weapon in overall length than the A model)
To conclude, the parts are well detailed in true ‘uberkit’ style and a welcome addition to the weapons box. The decals are thin, well registered and opaque, once again, standard fare. A great kit certainly, an eBay bargain for yours truly and a chance to populate those ‘uberkits’ with weaponry deserving of their high status (and price, lol!).
