This dog is medium sized and has very strong muscles. Before you want a Thai Ridgeback Dog, you have to think that do you have enough time for it. Since Thai Ridgeback Dogs(TRD) loves to run you'll need to take it out for a walk and let it have alot of exercise. If you live in a small apartment, try not to get a TRD since there need to be a lot of space to let it. A backyard would be find for it. Well be sure that your backyard has a tall fence or wall to protect it from housebreaking since most TRD have excellent jumping and climbing abilities. Beware that when visitors come and visit your house don't let your dog run free. The visitor might get bitten or attacked. TRDS in history, are known as watch dogs and it still keeps instinct from the past well even for 3000 years! Some TRD can easily get to known a stranger well while some will take a long time. It all depends on how you train them during puppyhood. During 4 months you should let it meet strangers and other dogs often so that it can socialize and get use to strangers as it grows up to become an adult. If you have a cat or a rabbit at home already try to let it be with your cat or rabbit often during when its a puppy. If you don't train it, your cat might be chasen all over the place until you seperate them or your rabbit might get bitten to death. To try to let it be together as much as possible when its still a small puppy. In Thailand, the TRD is known as a courageous fighter because of its feirceness. It has a very good natural instinct to protect its owner and they are very loyal to their owner. Every time I walk past a house with a TRD. It barked at me and it was trying to climb out of the house to chase after me. It was lucky of me that the wall was high. My auntee has a TRD (she bought it for 2500 Baht or 70 Dollars) and the first time I saw it, it was already an adult. It barked at me and it was kind of running towards me but luckily that one of the maids hold the dog. So that proofs that the Thai Ridgeback dog is a very good watch dog in my opinion. Please be patient there will be some more to come and please visit again.
