Travel
I have traveled a good many areas of the world and by most means of transport, on foot, bicycle, motorcycle, car, car and caravan, motorhome, or RV as our American friends call them, boats and aeroplanes. Each has it's own good and bad points and what suits one may not suit another. But the important thing is not how you travel but the travel itself. To go somewhere different. To see different things, people, places, cultures. How other people do things, how they live. How you respond to different cultures and peoples. Travel can lead not only to discovery of fresh places but also tell you things about yourself.
Maybe you can't afford to go to far away places, it doesn't matter. I am constantly amazed at how many people know so little about their own country. It is there on your doorstep, get out there and have a look. Enjoy the differences in the regional dialects, cuisine, countryside, towns, villages and even the big cities.
It is a cliché I know to say that travel broadens the mind but like most cliché's it is the simple truth.
