Hand-rearing
Pyrrhura conures make idea pets if hand reared properly. The key for good hand reared conures and any other parrot-like is alot of human interaction while being reared. My son's & daughter's under supervision often play with the birds.
The birds are playful, mischievous, and it's quite easy to teach them one or two tricks, i.e.: flies to your hand on call & often lie on their backs for their belly to be tickled.
My hand reared chicks are usually raised from 4 weeks old, and reared on Kaytee exact hand rearing formula. As they get older & start to wean they are offered fruits and various seeds. They are fully weaned by the 9/10 weeks from hatching.
Below are some photos sent to me by Dave & Marian Hyatt (UK), who purchased one of my hand reared baby Green cheeks (m.australis). His name is 'Cheeky' & these are a few things he gets up to.
