Metin Ozlen

HAYALI METIN OZLEN was born in 1940 in
Istanbul. His grandfather Hayri Bey was
also a Karagoz player ,and he learned
everything from him. In 1976 he became
the first in the Karagoz competition which
the Culture Ministry organized. He
rearranged the disappearing classical
plays "Leyla lie Mecnun" and "Ferhad ile
Sirin".
Figure maker
He has participated in many
festivals(such as ....'In England
1979, in USA 1981 and 1986, in
Germany 1987, in Japan 1986,
in France 1986,90,91). His figures
are on display in many
museums ail over the world; USA.Germany-France.England
etc. Finally, he attended festivals
in Germany and Belarussia
in 1993, . 1993 in France, 1995
in Athens, 1996 in Berlin. He
also participated in Bursa Karagoz
Festivals in 1993,94,95. He
makes naturally dyed and with solderig
iron holed animal
figures.
His work: Layla and Mejnun
He wrote a book about "Old and new
Karagoz plays.scenarrios" which was
published by the Cuiture Ministry. He
is a
member of Unima Turkey.
