In January of 1997, 14 year old Amber Creek ran away. Although it was not the first time she had done this, it was to be the last. On February 9, 1997 her body was found in Racine County WI. She had been brutally murdered and left in a snow-covered field. It took a dedicated detective until June of 1998 to find out who she had been and notify her family. Every day kids run away from home, not taking into account the danger they will be in. There are predators who roam the streets looking for runaways. Some young person away from home who's family has no idea where they are. Unfortunately runaways make perfect victims. She always used to say that she was safe, that her friends would never hurt her. Now it is too late for her to learn from her mistake, but hopefully not too late for someone else to.
