Anniversary of the Schweizer Bahnen  </div> <div> and in honor of my late grandfather I built with help, an alpine layout in</div> <div> HO gauge.</div> <div> My grandfather was my idol, as a child he took me many times to the SBB</div> <div> Hauenstein tracks in Trimbach, to show me the huge steam engine monsters, that were huffing and puffing the steep grade to cross  the Jura mountains behind our house. </div> <div> We would wave to the engineers, which in turn would whistle as they</div> <div> recognized my grandfather. He was the president of the railroad engineers</div> <div> union, a well respected "Lokifuehrer"  rail engineer.</div> <div> On August 1st 1997, my layout was finished and the first SBB Re 460 was </div> <div> running the inaugural run!</div> <div> I am showing this layout with great success at shows in the Oregon area,</div> <div> like GATS (Great American Train Show) at OMSI (Oregon Museum of</div> <div> Science and Industry) Food and Gift, Festival of Trees, Salem and Albany</div> <div> Swap meets. It has attracted many fans  young and old.</div> <div> I show on side tables, trains from many European countries as well as the</div> <div> high speed trains like the TGV, ICE and Lufthansa Express.</div> <div> On another table the Swiss railroad system gets to impress viewers with an exhibition of SBB-CFF trains, even a Krokodil Ce 6/8. Other paraphernalia </div> <div> is touristic in mind, brochures, Swiss cowbells and chalets, Swiss chocolate and other items are on view. </div> <div> In the background Swiss Laendler music(folklorique) is playing.</div> <div> I am having the fun of my life, donating my time and my layout to the </div> <div> enjoyment of people.</div> <div> Go to Photo Album 2 for more.</div> <div>  </div> <bR> </td> </tr></table></body>
