The first Great Bathtub Race 7 July 2001 is a part of the annual Warburton Winterfest.
The race will bring the Yarra river, an important natural element in the town, into the festival.
This year, the race is limited to Warburton, but in future years, there are plans to extend the course to other parts of the Yarra valley, perhaps even as far as Southbank! (Anyone who wants to this year is welcome to try.)
The race is organised by a mad bunch of individuals, with the backing of the main Winterfest committee. Through sponsorship, we have arranged generous prizes and trophies.
Sponsors who are keen to be associated with this fun event are being sought, with the aim of raising the profile of the race, the river and the town respectively. Sponsors to date include:
